U.S. equities are mildly firmer
U.S. equities are mildly firmer. The Dow mini future is 0.3% in the green, the S&P 500 is 0.1% higher and the NASDAQ is also up 0.1%. The Dow has benefited from upbeat earnings news, with reports from PG&E and United Technologies featuring. In Europe, markets have reopened after the Easter Monday holiday to mostly mild declines. The Euro Stoxx is 0.2% in the red, the CAC 40 is off 0.1% and the DAX is 0.2% weaker. The FTSE, however, has rallied to the tune of a 0.5% bounce. As for Asia, China's CSI 300 dipped 0.2% in cautious action -- a news report from the official Xinhua news agency was interpreted as signaling a slower pace of monetary policy easing ahead. Hong Kong's Hang Seng was flat, while Japan's Nikkei rose 0.2%. The deluge of U.S. earnings reports continues -- reports so far have been upbeat, with some very strong results in the mix. Twitter, Coca-Cola and Harley-Davidson have climbed in pre-market trade following upbeat reports.
