"Box Office Battle" is The Fly's weekly roundup of what movies topped the weekend's box office.
Disney (DIS) and Marvel's "Avengers: Endgame" reign has come to an end after three weekends at the top of the domestic box office. Winning the weekend, Lionsgate's (LGF.A) "John Wick: Chapter Three – Parabellum" earned $57.2M in its debut from 3,850 theaters. The movie sports an A- CinemaScore and an 88% Rotten Tomatoes score. Overseas, "Parabellum" earned $35.2M from 66 international markets.
BOX OFFICE RUNNERS-UP: "Avengers: Endgame" fell to number 2, earning an estimated $29.2M from 4,220 domestic locations, and $46.8M in international markets. Behind it was AT&T (T) subsidiary Warner Bros.' and Legendary Entertainment's "Detective Pikachu," grossing $24.8M in domestic sales, for a cume to date of $94M. Comcast (CMCSA) subsidiary Universal's "A Dog's Journey" placed number four, with $8M in its opening weekend. Rounding out the top five, MGM's "The Hustle" ended the weekend with an estimated $6.1M from 3,077 locations.
