U.S. equities are modestly firmer
U.S. equities are modestly firmer in pre-market trading as yesterday's risk-aversion has given way to an improved appetite for risk. The Dow mini and S&P 500 mini are both 0.5% higher in pre-market trading, while the NASDAQ mini is up 0.4%. President Trump said Huawei restrictions could be addressed in a trade deal, bolstering hope that a trade agreement will eventual emerge despite the apparent breakdown in talks amid increasingly aggressive rhetoric from both sides recently. UK PM May's resignation, set for June 7, has also supported. The Conservative Party will start its leadership contest in the June 10 week. The UK's FTSE 100 has climbed 0.8%. European bourses are in the green, with the Euro Stoxx 0.9% higher, the DAX up 0.8% and the CAC 40 also 0.8% firmer. In Asia, China's CSI 300 improved 0.3%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.3% and Japan's Nikkei fell 0.2%.
