Xerox could be strategic acquisition target after EFI deal, says Citi
Citi analyst Jim Suva points out that the buyout of Electronics for Imaging (EFII) by private equity contains a 45 day "go-shop" period. With the print industry maturing, the analyst believes both HP Inc. (HPQ) and XRX (XRX) will now "more aggressively look" at Electronics for Imaging as a strategic asset in terms of revenue growth, earnings accretion, and cash flow. Further, Xerox could be a strategic acquisition for private equity or HP given its annual cash flow of $1B-plus and cost structure that could be significantly reduced, Suva tells investors in a research note. The analyst keeps a Buy rating on Electronics for Imaging and boosted his price target for the shares to $44.

The analyst believes the possibility of another buyer coming in over the top is fairly low, but notes that the price is "too low" based on the opportunities Cray has in front of it over the next few years. Global Payments / TSYS combination makes strategic sense, says SunTrust

Global Payments, TSYS tie-up would likely be highly accretive, says Stephens
Stephens analyst Brett Huff noted that Bloomberg reports that Global Payments (GPN) and TSYS (TSS) have held talks about a potential merger, joint venture and/or partnerships. While he has previously thought that Global Payments had the luxury of "waiting and seeing" if combining consumer funding account with a merchant POS experience, such as the Fiserv (FISV)-First Data (FDC) and FIS (FIS)-Worldpay (WP) deals will do, would yield enough strategic value, he suspects a sooner deal might be driven by the companies' desire to not just achieve larger scale but also achieve that scale with high-quality assets. Huff said he thinks any deal would likely be highly accretive given overlaps and both companies' track record for realizing cost synergies and he also sees limited antitrust concern. Huff also thinks a Global Payments-TSYS combination would increase the chances that assets such as ACI Worldwide (ACIW), Bottomline Technologies (EPAY), Jack Henry (JKHY), USA Technologies (USAT) and Q2 Holdings (QTWO) would likely be bought.

Outperform
Autodesk after-hours stock decline may be 'outsized,' says Credit Suisse
Credit Suisse analyst Brad Zelnick maintains an Outperform rating and $188 price target on Autodesk following the company's softer than expected Q1 results, with subscription revenues and operating margin below consensus. In a research note to investors, Zelnick says he thinks the 9% stock drop after-hours may be "outsized," and thinks the long-term growth opportunity remains unchanged.

Underweight
Autodesk Q1 results did not ease concerns, says MUFG
MUFG analyst Stephen Bersey says Autodesk's Q1 results did little to assuage his longer-term growth concerns for the company. An "entrenched" maintenance base and "sizable" piracy contingent are symptomatic of Autodesk's "tepid" research and development spend and "poor" organic innovation track record, Bersey tells investors in a post-earnings note. The analyst raised his price target for the shares to $94 from $91 to reflect the re-rating of the software sector but keeps an Underweight rating on Autodesk.

Outperform
Autodesk Q1 to mark strong start to FY20, says RBC Capital
RBC Capital analyst Matthew Hedberg kept his Outperform rating and $200 price target on Autodesk ahead of its Q1 results. The analyst cites the "positive" findings of his survey of the company's channel partners, saying 87% of respondents indicated that the quarter tracked "in line with or above plan" and 90% believed that the company's economic trends were "neutral to positive". Hedberg further states that Autodesk's most recent Analyst Day reflected the company's "encouraging" growth opportunity and resilience to macro headwinds.
