Stock markets remain cautious ahead of central banks, with Fed and BoE decisions, but also the ECB's annual conference in Sintra coming into view. DAX and FTSE 100 are currently up 0.06% and down -0.06% respectively with dovish ECB comments helping to underpin the German benchmark on a day without key data releases. Asian markets mostly closed lower, with Topix and Nikkei down -0.45% and up 0.03% respectively at the close, the ASX down -0.35% and the CSI 300 unchanged on the day. The Hang Seng recovered after being pressured by political protests last week managed to close 0.40$ higher. Overall though, geopolitical tensions continue to cap gains and investors are cautious ahead of this week's closely watched Fed meeting. U.S. futures are managing fractional gains and the front end WTI future is trading at USD 52.16 per barrel.
