Stephens 'very encouraged' by reaction to EA's Apex Season 2 trailer
Stephens analyst Jeff Cohen said in a note to investors before the open that he was "very encouraged by the overwhelmingly positive reaction" to the Apex Legends Season 2 trailer that was released by Electronic Arts yesterday. He believes the engagement, which is tracking significantly above Season 1, bodes well for the game's success ahead of it going live on July 2. He continues to think Season 2 could generate over $150M in revenue, which could lead to upside to EA's full year guidance for the game of $300M-$400M. The analyst, who noted that he believes buyside expectations for Apex are closer to the low-end to middle of that range, keeps an Overweight rating and $120 price target on EA shares.

Stephens analyst Jeff Cohen said he is switching his best idea in video games to Electronic Arts (EA) from Take-Two (TTWO) as he sees more near-term catalysts for the former, noting that Apex Legends Season 2 begins on July 2. While not predicting that Apex is going to eclipse Fortnite again as it did in February, Cohen thinks Fortnite's popularity has "hit a lull" with Season 2 launching at the right time to capture momentum for Apex. The analyst, who sees a bull case scenario where Season 2 generates $150M in revenue for EA, also expects the company to announce a deal to bring Apex to China and mobile, he said. Nomura Instinet analyst Dan Dolev raised his price target for Square to $100 from $90 following a survey of 260 Cash App users. He estimates improving engagement, continued share gains, and additional price increases could drive up to 20% upside to 2021 revenue growth estimates. Argus analyst Stephen Biggar initiated Square with a Buy rating and a price target of $94, citing the company's "record of technological innovation, strong brand recognition, and an expanding international presence." Biggar adds that while his price target on Square is modeled on a multiple of 82-times his expected FY20 earnings, the high multiple is warranted by his expected average earnings growth for the company of 56% over the next two years.

JPMorgan notes airline fare hike, doesn't see domestic 'resilience' as priced in

Given "the crescendo of inquiries as to why, and nary a question on fares," Baker said he is confident that increased domestic fare resilience is not yet priced into airline stocks. American, Southwest raised domestic rates in last two days, says JPMorgan
JPMorgan analyst Jamie Baker said American Airlines (AAL) took a "plain vanilla" domestic fare increase of $5 one-way yesterday morning, which was followed by what looks like a system-wide increase from Hawaiian (HA) and a "substantive" Lower 48 increase from Southwest (LUV). He was not expecting another increase so soon after the industry took a broad-based domestic increase in the second week of May, noted Baker, who thinks evidence of domestic demand and potential Q2 guidance increases could reverse "recent apathy" towards the airline space. Other publicly traded airlines include Alaska Air (ALK), American Airlines (AAL), Delta Air Lines (DAL), JetBlue (JBLU), Southwest (LUV), Spirit Airlines (SAVE) and United Continental (UAL).

Delta one of biggest beneficiaries of longer MAX grounding, says Stifel
Stifel analyst Joseph DeNardi noted that Delta's (DAL) updated Q2 guidance yesterday was "strong across the board," pointing out that domestic load factor for the quarter of 89% benefited from the fact that the grounding of Boeing's (BA) MAX fleet is keeping industry capacity growth constrained. He sees Delta as one of the biggest beneficiaries, second only to Spirit Airlines (SAVE) and Alaska Air (ALK), as the grounding extends further out given the company's lack of exposure and the industry's competitive capacity dynamics. DA Davidson reiterates $60 target on Wayfair citing Amazon 'encroachment'
In a research earlier today titled "Encroachment Is a 5-Yard Penalty," DA Davidson analyst Tom Forte reiterated an Underperform rating on Wayfair with a $60 12-18 month price target. The stock in morning trading is up 1% to $120.89. Amazon.com (AMZN) announced yesterday that it was launching two private-label furniture brands in the U.K., Forte wrote to investors. The analyst sees the news as "yet another indication" of Amazon's intent to expand its efforts in the home category, including furniture. Yesterday's announcement follows Amazon's decision last December to lower third-party selling fees for the furniture category, the analyst points out. Forte views Amazon's efforts to ramp its sales in the home category as an increasing threat for Wayfair. Further, the analyst is monitoring the potential sale of Overstock's (OSTK) legacy home e-commerce business, as he thinks a sale to a large bricks and mortar retailer could also result in additional competition for Wayfair.

Landry is less constructive on the stock fundamentally from a mid-term perspective, but on a longer-term view, she continues to think that FedEx is well positioned strategically to benefit from the evolving domestic parcel market; and specifically, views its alignment with large, traditional retailers - such as Walmart (WMT and Target (TGT) - that are looking for ways to compete with Amazon (AMZN) as a positive in the long run.

Target shares 'fairly valued', says Argus
Argus analyst Chris Graja warns that Target earnings may face pressure from "intense competition", along with softer traffic at brick-and-mortar retailers and higher spending to boost the company's e-commerce capabilities and merchandise offerings. The analyst sees that stock as "fairly valued" at current prices, but notes that if Target can generate stronger traffic and comps growth, that could be a catalyst to raise his long-term growth expectations.
