Microsoft could deliver incremental $100B of revenue by FY25, says Cowen
Cowen analyst Nick Yako initiated Microsoft with an Outperform rating and $150 price target. In a research note to investors, the analyst says believes has positioned itself in the right secular growth markets to deliver an incremental $100B of revenue by fiscal 2025, driving consistent double digit earnings growth in FY20-FY25. Additionaly, Yako says he expects Microsoft's Commercial Cloud, including both Office 365 Commercial and Azure, to be the primary driver of growth going forward.

Morgan Stanley still confident in Microsoft's Server & Tools division growth
Morgan Stanley analyst Keith Weiss noted that a key debate about Microsoft (MSFT), which has been stoked by recent weakness in other on-premise infrastructure software vendors such as Cloudera (CLDR), Pivotal Software (PVTL) and VMware (VMW), remains the durability of growth in the company's On-premise Server Products and Tools. However, he maintains confidence in the durability of low-single digital growth in the Server Products & Tools division, citing share gains across the solution portfolio. However, Weiss does note that Microsoft faces face unusually tough comparison in the division in Q4 and Q1 of FY20, leaving him to forecast year-over-year declines in these two quarters. He maintains an Overweight rating and $145 price target on Microsoft shares.

Pentagon JEDI contract to be 'defining moment' for cloud arms race, says Wedbush
Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives believes a "defining moment" for the cloud arms race will be the announcement of the winner of the long-awaited Pentagon JEDI contract, which is worth roughly $10B over the next decade in this landmark deal representing the cloud "grand prize" for Amazon (AMZN) and Microsoft (MSFT). The analyst notes that the timing on the announcement of a winner could be late August/early September with the ongoing Oracle (ORCL) lawsuit a wild card that could push the timeline out further depending on the outcome. While AWS/Amazon have been in pole position to win this deal over the last year, Ives continues to hear from his Beltway contacts that Microsoft has made "steady and impressive progress" and significantly narrowed the gap over the last six months with the odds of a win looking more like a realistic possibility.

Petrobras resumed with a Buy at BofA/Merrill
As previously reported, BofA Merrill Lynch analyst Frank McGann resumed coverage of Petrobras with a Buy rating and $21 price target, stating that he believes Petrobras's equity story is at its best position in the last 6 to 7 years given that the company's debt levels are now sustainable for the first time in that long. Petrobras, unencumbered by such a heavy debt load, is well-positioned to benefit from a combination of strong growth, solid free cash flow, and continued improvement in its financial position, argues McGann.

As previously reported, Goldman Sachs analyst Bruno Amorim started Petrobras with a Buy rating and a price target of $21.60, saying the company is in the process of transitioning from a "turnaround" story to one of growth and cash generation. The analyst adds that "after a decade" of disappointing on production growth forecasts, Petrobras is positioned to expand its production volume by about 9% per year in the 2018-2020 period. Amorim further believes that investors will respond well to the management's efforts in selling non-core assets to reduce leverage and invest the proceeds in the offshore Santos Basin.

Target shares 'fairly valued', says Argus

FedEx price target lowered to $175 from $184 at Credit Suisse
Credit Suisse analyst Allison Landry lowered her price target for FedEx (FDX) to $175 from $184, while reiterating an Outperform rating on the shares. Given FedEx's historical track record for setting an optimistic outlook, the analyst was "a bit surprised" at the fiscal year 2020 guidance for a MSD EPS decline. Landry is less constructive on the stock fundamentally from a mid-term perspective, but on a longer-term view, she continues to think that FedEx is well positioned strategically to benefit from the evolving domestic parcel market; and specifically, views its alignment with large, traditional retailers - such as Walmart (WMT and Target (TGT) - that are looking for ways to compete with Amazon (AMZN) as a positive in the long run.

Walmart making progress toward e-commerce profitability, says Morgan Stanley
After an article in Recode suggested Walmart is losing $1B per year in its U.S. e-commerce division, Morgan Stanley analyst Simeon Gutman noted that Walmart management has never quantified U.S. e-commerce losses, but has indicated losses will rise again in 2019. He estimates losses growing to about $1.7B in 2019 from about $1.4B in 2018. With that said, Gutman said he sees a path to e-commerce profitability that involves a more favorable product mix and fixed cost leverage, which are both areas where he believes the company is making progress. Gutman keeps an Overweight rating and $115 price target on Walmart shares.

Costco price target raised to $289 following 'solid' June comps at Stifel
Stifel analyst Mark Astrachan noted that Costco (COST) reported "solid" June comparable sales growth of 5.1% total and 5.3% for its U.S. core business, which were both a bit better than consensus forecasts. He reads the results as an indication that Costco can coexist with large hardline competitors like Walmart (WMT) while having limited cannibalization from Amazon (AMZN), Astrachan tells investors. He also continues to view it as "reasonable" that Costco could declare a special dividend in the next few quarters given its "sizable and increasing" cash balance. Astrachan keeps a Buy rating on Costco shares and raised his price target on the stock to $289 from $261.

The analyst adds that the management's focus on near-term strategic priorities is "sensible", but given the lack of permanent senior management, he sees Bed Bath & Beyond stock as a "show me" story.

Trex Company's second half and 2020 'looking strong,' says DA Davidson
DA Davidson analyst Kurt Yinger kept his Buy rating and $79 price target on Trex Company (TREX), saying the recent Q1 results from Home Depot (HD) highlighted a "healthy" underlying repair and remodel market with "solid" comps in April recovering from weather related constraints. The analyst expects production issues to weigh on Trex's first half but believes that the back half of 2019 and 2020 will be strong. Yinger cites the "underlying repair and remodel demand/spend", the shifting trend in deck repair to composite from wood, and the company's ability to gain market share with shelf space wins at Lowe's (LOW) along with "expanded stocking positions within the dealer channel."

SunTrust analyst Keith Hughes lowered his price target on Lowe's to $120, saying that while the company's Q1 comps were better than expected, lower margins from "insufficient pricing visibility" made the earnings miss worse in highlighting the "disorganization" in the management's turnaround efforts. The analyst keeps his Buy rating on Lowe's, but acknowledges that the recovery will not be a "quick story", even though he is positive on the re-set of expectations and maintains that the 10% projected earnings growth this year still tops Home Depot's (HD) expected flat growth.

Morgan Stanley stays Overweight on Lowe's despite weaker gross margin view
Morgan Stanley analyst Simeon Gutman acknowledged that Lowe's reported "material, unanticipated" gross margin weakness in Q1 and revised its outlook for weaker gross margins in 2019. He thinks management has been hyper focused on top-line growth, to the detriment of margins, in the early stages of their transformation plan, but Gutman believes the gross margin weakness anticipated in 2019 is transitory. The margin issues overshadowed solid comps and expense leverage in Q1, contends the analyst, who said the margin setback does not change his Overweight thesis given his view that EPS should rebound next year. Gutman has a $123 price target on Lowe's shares.
