Facebook looking to emulate WeChat ecosystem, says Oppenheimer
In the wake of recent Facebook (FB) employee departures, product announcements and regulatory risk, Oppenheimer analyst Jason Helfstein views WhatsApp and Instagram's founders departure as related to those products being integrated into Facebook. CPO Cox's departure confirms Zuckerberg is likely to purse a more aggressive product refresh, he contends, adding that Facebook appears to want to emulate Tencent (TCEHY) WeChat's ecosystem, allowing information sharing, communications and commerce in a single application. Lastly, Helfstein views Facebook's announcement of the "Clear History" tool as a way to get in front of potential U.S. and international regulation of consumer internet data. The analyst reiterates an Outperform rating and $195 price target on Facebook's shares.

Jiang maintains a Buy rating on Tencent and raised her price target on the shares to HK$400 from HK$360.

Piper video game viewing data most favorable for Activision Blizzard
Piper Jaffray analyst Michael Olson says his firm's Q2 "TwitchAdviser," an analysis of video game viewing data, is most favorable for Activision Blizzard (ATVI), with additional positive takeaways for Take-Two Interactive (TTWO). Activision viewership is up 15% quarter-over-quarter, versus the analyst's estimate for a 3% digital revenue decline, excluding King, Olson tells investors in a research note. Take-Two viewing increased 149% quarter-over-quarter versus Olson's estimate for a 26% decline in recurrent revenue. That much of an uptick in viewership is unlikely to result in a recurrent revenue increase of similar magnitude, given much of the viewing for Grand Theft Auto s driven by un-monetized modding, the analyst tells investors in a research note. Further, for the second consecutive quarter, Electronic Arts' (EA) Apex Legends was among the top movers, but this time on a downward trajectory, adds Olson. He maintains Overweight ratings on all three names.

Jefferies downgrades NetEase to Hold, cuts price target to $245
Jefferies analyst Karen Chan downgraded NetEase to Hold from Buy and lowered her price target for the shares to $245 from $254. While the company's mobile game growth reaccelerated to 40% in Q4 on an easier comp and new title contribution, the longevity of recent releases and uncertainty of Diablo Immortal launch time cloud the outlook, Chan tells investors in a post-earnings research note. When coupled with online music and education investments, the analyst cut her fiscal 2019 earnings estimate by 16%. Downside to consensus numbers and a lack of near-term catalysts may put an overhang on NetEase shares, the analyst contends.

Apex Legends engagement brings confidence in EA's outlook, says Piper Jaffray
Shares of Electronic Arts have fallen ~10% since the new content for Apex Legends was made available on July 2, Piper Jaffray analyst Michael Olson tells investors in a research note. However, player engagement, as measured by Twitch viewing, has been largely in-line with expectations and increases confidence in EA's ability to hit the guidance range of $300M-$400M for Apex Legends in fiscal 2020, Olson says. He believes management's overall fiscal 2020 outlook appears "somewhat conservative, with limited downside risk to any major components." Electronic Arts weakness on Juventus news a buying opportunity, says Stephens
Stephens analyst Jeff Cohen noted that Konami announced a deal with Italian soccer club Juventus to appear exclusively in the Japanese developer's "Pro Evolution Soccer," which means Electronic Arts' FIFA 20 will not feature Juventus or the team's stadium. While he recognizes that Cristiano Ronaldo, the game's most recognizable player, plays for Juventus, Cohen also noted that EA stated in a blog post that the company will still have the name and likeness of all of Juventus' players and will simply rename the team in its game. Cohen said he sees this as a one-off agreement, rather than a sign of increasing competition for EA, and he would be a buyer of the shares amid today's weakness. He keeps an Overweight rating and $120 price target on the stock.

Wedbush bullish on Nvidia, initiates with an Outperform
As previously reported, Wedbush analyst Mathew Bryson initiated Nvidia with an Outperform and $184 price target. While the analyst is not forecasting a rebound in cryptocurrency-related demand, he believes that inventories of gaming GPUs have largely normalized. Similarly, the more modest deterioration in datacenter GPUs last quarter, as well as an outlook for improved second half of the year server builds, lead him to believe a return to more normal datacenter GPU sales growth is likely. Once these markets normalize, Bryson would expect intermediate- to longer-term CAGRs of 20%-plus, given the healthy growth outlook for both end markets, with significant room for upside in datacenter sales, in particular, should Nvidia achieve its goal of gaining meaningful traction in new market segments including inference and AI.

Wedbush bullish on AMD, initiates with an Outperform
As previously reported, Wedbush analyst Matthew Bryson initiated AMD (AMD) with an Outperform rating and $35 price target. The analyst views AMD's reemergence in CPUs as one of the likely major shifts in both the PC and data center markets over the next few years. Specifically, Bryson believes AMD's early adoption of a distributed "chiplet" architecture combined with a shift to leading edge geometries positions the company to take meaningful share from Intel (INTC) in both the PC and server markets over the next few years. Moreover, he expects AMD will also realize some more modest benefits on the GPU side, with its GPU business also poised to benefit from a resumption of more normalized channel sales, sales into Google (GOOG) Stadia, console transitions, and a recently signed agreement with Samsung (SSNLF) to share and license IP.

Sony appeared to be video game hardware winner on Black Friday, says Wedbush
Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter notes that each of the four game retailers he tracked, namely Best Buy (BBY), GameStop (GME), Target (TGT) and Walmart (WMT) offered the Marvel's Spider-Man PlayStation 4 Bundle that included a slim PS4 with a 1TB hard drive and Sony's (SNE) Marvel's Spider-Man for $199.99, as well as the Microsoft's (MSFT) Xbox One S Minecraft Creators Bundle that included an Xbox One S with a 1TB hard drive, a Minecraft full game download, the Starter Pack, the Creators Pack, and 1,000 Minecoins for $199.99. Nintendo's (NTDOY) primary hardware offering was less compelling given that it was priced at the console's standard MSRP, he adds. The only sell-out that the analyst saw over Black Friday was the primary PS4 deal. Pachter expects the Black Friday deals to eventually translate into permanent price cuts for the base PS4 and Xbox One, possibly by this Christmas.
