U.S. equities are flat to marginally firmer
U.S. equities are flat to marginally firmer as risk aversion is prompting caution. Also, the stock indexes remain only slightly under record high closing levels after the modest declines seen yesterday while the line-up of corporate earnings announcements remains thick. The Dow and S&P 500 are flat, while the NASDAQ is 0.05% higher in pre-market trading. European bourses are also flat to weaker, with the Euro Stoxx flat, the CAC 40 down 0.1%, and the DAX 0.2% softer. The U.K.'s FTSE 100 has slipped 0.2%. In Asia, Japan's Nikkei 225 fell 0.3%, China's CSI 300 edged 0.1% lower and Hong Kong's Hang Seng was also off 0.1%. Earnings today include Abbott Labs, Bank of America, Bank of NY Mellon, Comerica, Crown Castle, eBay, Ericsson, Netflix, PNC, Progressive, Textron, U.S. Bancorp, and Wipro.
