HOBBS & SHAW OPENING WEEKEND: The opening of Comcast (CMCSA, CMCSK) subsidiary Universal's "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw," a Fast & Furious spin-off starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, is expected to easily win the weekend. The film, which already earned $5.8M in Thursday night previews, is opening at 4,253 theaters, and is expected to open domestically anywhere from $60M-$70M.
LION KING, ONCE UPON A TIME... LOOK TO ROUND OUT TOP THREE: In its third weekend at theaters, Disney's (DIS) live-action remake of "The Lion King" is looking to add another $38M to its domestic total. The film has already earned over $1B globally, and will be looking to pass $420M domestically this weekend. Sony's (SNE) "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," directed by Quentin Tarantino, is looking to gross another $20M in its second weekend at theaters.=
