Sonos estimates adjusted for later than expected Ikea launch at Stifel
Stifel analyst Matthew Sheerin noted that Ikea has released a photo of its new Sonos-powered speaker, the "Symfonisk," which will be available in August. The device appears to be powered by Sonos' low-end speaker, though it is unclear whether it will be voice-enabled and pricing isn't yet available, said Sheerin. Given the delayed launch of the Sonos-powered speaker line by Ikea and channel inventory reductions in the March quarter, Sheerin lowered his March-quarter estimates and raised estimates for the back half of 2019. The analyst, who maintains his FY19 and FY20 revenue and margin estimates, keeps a Hold rating on Sonos shares and trimmed his price target on the stock to $13 from $14.

Sonos's hiring of Anki engineers positive for its development, says DA Davidson
DA Davidson analyst Matt Summerville kept his Buy rating and $20 price target on Sonos, saying the company's confirmed Axios report that it hired engineering talent from defunct toy robot maker Anki is a positive. The analyst believes that the hiring is a "shrewd" decision by Sonos management and will have a positive impact on its development efforts. Summerville further cites Anki's "impressive accomplishments" of 6.5M device sales and over 19M mobile handsets connected, adding that the incremental development experience in hardware and software from the hiring could increase Sonos' useful lifetime of its hardware via software updates.

Union Pacific price target raised to $191 from $179 at Loop Capital
Loop Capital analyst Rick Paterson raised his price target on Union Pacific to $191 after its better than expected Q2 results, saying the quarter revealed that adverse weather impact has masked some of the "structural improvement" of the company's adoption of Precision Scheduled Railroading. The analyst contends that progress has in fact been "more significant", and he is "intrigued" to see what Union Pacific can do for the balance of the year with major environmental shocks. Paterson also raised his FY19 and FY20 EPS forecasts by 42c and 65c to $8.91 and $10.29 respectively.

Morgan Stanley stays Underweight on Union Pacific, says 'priced for perfection'
After Union Pacific "modestly" topped expectations in Q2, Morgan Stanley analyst Ravi Shanker noted that consensus had declined 9% since May and said he thinks the small beat could come as a disappointment "for a railroad that is in the prime of its PSR implementation." Shanker, who thinks the stock is "priced for PSR perfection," said he has little doubt that the company's headcount cuts are driven by its Precision Scheduled Railroading shift, but he also believes they were accelerated by the tough environment. He keeps an Underweight rating on Union Pacific shares, though he raised his price target on the stock to $140 from $128.

Amgen wins 'big' in courtroom, Enbrel overhang removed, says Piper Jaffray
Piper Jaffray analyst Christopher Raymond reiterates an Overweight rating and a $210 price target on Amgen's (AMGN) shares following news that the company has won the Enbrel IP litigation with challenger Sandoz. The analyst notes that this challenge could have pulled forward Enbrel's LOE from 2029 to essentially right now, which has been the number 1 concern surrounding the stock. With shares up about 6% on this news, Raymond sees the reaction as appropriate and, while the stock is approaching his target at these levels, he believes shares are likely to grind higher on this removed overhang. Sandoz is a division of Novartis (NVS).

This was a key overhang on Amgen, and the removal could let investors become more constructive on the company's pipeline, Bansal tells investors in a research note. Further, the analyst thinks Amgen's legacy business decline is now approaching an inflection point where other products could offset it. He keeps a Buy rating on Amgen shares.

As such, Prasad is making no change to his estimates following Friday's decision. He remains positive on Coherus and would use any share weakness as an opportunity to add a "fundamentally sound company." Prasad reiterates an Overweight rating on the shares with a $31 price target.

Citi upgrades Newmont, downgrades Barrick on resumption of coverage
Citi analyst Alexander Hacking resumed coverage of Barrick Gold and downgraded the shares to Neutral from Buy while lowering his price target to $12.50 from $14. He also resumed coverage of Newmont Mining (NEM) and upgraded the shares to Buy from Neutral while raising his price target for the shares to $40 from $36. The gold sector remains challenged, but Newmont offers better value than Barrick, Hacking tells investors in a research note. After applying Barrick's 1.2 times multiple to Newmont's holdings in the joint venture assets, the analyst sees Newmont's other assets trading at only 0.76 times net asset value. This could be re-rated higher as the market starts to incorporate the joint venture into models, says Hacking.

Despite the headline "miss," Wieczynski said he thinks the factors driving the softness were well documented ahead of the report and he also believes the 33% increase in its quarterly dividend should "soften the damage." Martin is positive on Roku's position as an "arms dealer" in the OTT race, which makes it "indifferent" to which service or business model wins as long as it can sustain its revenue share from every service.
