U.S. Empire State, Philly Fed index previews:
U.S. Empire State, Philly Fed index previews: analysts expect the Empire State index to rise slightly to 5.0 from 4.3 in July and a -8.6 June reading that marked a 33-month low for the series. The Philly Fed index is seen falling to 9.0 from a 1-year high of 21.8 in July, versus a 33-month low of -4.1 in February. The producer sentiment readings all moderated through the turn of the year from elevated levels in response to global growth concerns, falling petroleum prices, fears about the ongoing trade war, and the partial government shutdown. Analysts saw a further bout of market fear in May that depressed the late-May and June surveys, and analysts now face a renewed headwind from announced 10% tariffs starting in September.
