Global Payments, TSYS tie-up would likely be highly accretive, says Stephens
Stephens analyst Brett Huff noted that Bloomberg reports that Global Payments (GPN) and TSYS (TSS) have held talks about a potential merger, joint venture and/or partnerships. While he has previously thought that Global Payments had the luxury of "waiting and seeing" if combining consumer funding account with a merchant POS experience, such as the Fiserv (FISV)-First Data (FDC) and FIS (FIS)-Worldpay (WP) deals will do, would yield enough strategic value, he suspects a sooner deal might be driven by the companies' desire to not just achieve larger scale but also achieve that scale with high-quality assets. Huff said he thinks any deal would likely be highly accretive given overlaps and both companies' track record for realizing cost synergies and he also sees limited antitrust concern. Huff also thinks a Global Payments-TSYS combination would increase the chances that assets such as ACI Worldwide (ACIW), Bottomline Technologies (EPAY), Jack Henry (JKHY), USA Technologies (USAT) and Q2 Holdings (QTWO) would likely be bought.

Market wrong to conclude ACI Worldwide core business has weakened, says Stephens
Stephens analyst Brett Huff noted that shares of ACI Worldwide have underperformed since SpeedPay announcement in late February. He thinks the market has concluded that ACI's core BASE24 UP business has weakened, but he disagrees with that view, as Huff believes demand is okay and that inopportune timing from its term-license business drove the lumpy revenue and bookings. He sees a potential upcoming catalyst as the company could beat expectations in Q3 because its guidance excludes delayed deal closings. Huff reiterated an Overweight rating on ACI shares and trimmed his price target on the stock to $38 from $39.

ACI Worldwide upgraded to Overweight from Equal Weight at Stephens
Stephens analyst Brett Huff upgraded ACI Worldwide (ACIW) to Overweight and raised his price target for the shares to $38 from $30. The analyst views the company's acquisition of Western Union's (WU) Speedpay as a "great deal." Shares of ACI only moved 3% despite its guided double-digit accretion, Huff tells investors in a research note. He believes the deal should lead to higher estimates and sees a low likelihood of another offer coming in for Speedpay.

Huff lowered his price target on ACI Worldwide shares to $30 from $33 as he also updated his estimates.

Akamai named top Networking 'recession' pick at Piper Jaffray
Piper Jaffray analyst James Fish says that with rising macro environment and recessionary concerns caused by global trade tensions, he wanted to highlight Akamai Technologies as his top Networking "recession" pick. The company's secular drivers can override a weakening macro and provide indirect consumer exposure, Fish tells investors in a research note. Further, Akamai has a lack of China exposure, adds the analyst. He keeps an Overweight rating on the shares with a $97 price target. Akamai's underlying market dynamics, especially due to over-the-top streaming, online gaming, and cloud security, will help its business hold up better than most in a downturn, says Fish.

The analyst continues to like the stock long despite a mixed quarter that gave him plenty of support for his long thesis around disruptive growth but also came with a step back in leverage versus last quarter. The analyst thinks investors should remain focused on the bigger picture and the "bright" outlook ahead, including an agent TAM penetration of only about 70bps, nice leverage optionality tied to bolt-on ancillary services and the lingering potential of a takeout. PagerDuty estimates remain conservative, says Morgan Stanley
Morgan Stanley analyst Sanjit Singh kept his Equal Weight rating and the base case price target on PagerDuty (PD) at $48 as part of a broader research note into select software names. The analyst notes that even though the company beat on Q1 revenue and billings, the stock price declined 30% since the company last reported results, likely driven by the upcoming lock-up expiration on October 8th and the greater competitive environment coming price cuts at Atlassian (TEAM) and Splunk (SPLK). Singh contends however that the competitive dynamics will not yet show up in PagerDuty's Q2 results and believes that the management's guidance for FY20 is "highly conservative".

William Blair sees Netflix-like growth for Roku and 100%-plus stock upside
Roku's (ROKU) active account growth is tracking ahead of Netflix (NFLX) at parallel stages, William Blair analyst Ralph Schackart tells investors in a research note. The analyst, who believes Roku will experience similar phased stages of international growth as Netflix did during its international expansion, forecasts Roku will have over 80M active accounts by the end of 2025. Netflix's double-digit net subscriber additions beat consistently between 2015 and 2015, and Roku has a similar opportunity since the Street lagged Netflix's actual growth, and Roku's active growth is already tracking ahead of Netflix at a comparable stage, contends Schackart. He estimates Roku's consolidated platform revenue at $4.5B in 2025, 89% of which will be generated domestically. The analyst also thinks Roku's market capitalization in 2024 may reach $45B, and $27B in 2020 in a bull case. Schackart sees 100%-plus stock upside potential through 2024 for Roku.

Martin is positive on Roku's position as an "arms dealer" in the OTT race, which makes it "indifferent" to which service or business model wins as long as it can sustain its revenue share from every service.
