FOMC outlook: the Fed begins its two-day meeting on Tuesday and announces its decision Wednesday at 14 ET. It will also release its new Summary of Economic Projections (SEP) that includes the dot plot. The Fed is widely expected to ease the policy band another 25 bps to 1.75%-2.00%. Analysts and the markets will be watching closely the statement and press conference for clues on the path going forward. Given the myriad crosscurrents, and the outperformance of the U.S. economy, including gains in most inflation measures, analysts expect the Fed to refrain from signaling further action. And analysts assume the dot plot medians will show no policy change from the September level either later this year or in 2020.
