Ross to Bloomberg: Licenses for U.S companies to sell to Huawei coming 'shortly'
U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross says licenses for U.S. companies to sell components to China's Huawei will come "very shortly," Bloomberg's Philip Heijmans and Haslinda Amin report. Ross told Bloomberg that the licenses "will be forthcoming very shortly" and that the U.S. government had received 206 requests. "That's a lot of applications -- it's frankly more than we would've thought," Ross added. Huawei suppliers include Micron Technology (MU) and Western Digital (WDC), while makers of optical components, including Oclaro (OCLR), Acacia Communications (ACIA), NeoPhotonics (NPTN), Lumentum (LITE), and Finisar (IIVI), have previously reacted negatively to headlines regarding U.S. enforcement actions and allegations against China's Huawei.
