Morgan Stanley cites 'biotech-type risk/reward' in Virgin Galactic initiation
Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas initiated coverage of Virgin Galactic with an Overweight rating and $22 price target, telling investors that he sees a "biotech-type risk/reward" for the shares. He believes the addressable market for space tourism is niche, but supported by a range of industries. However, Jonas believes what is really likely to drive upside for the stock is what he calls "the third phase of the VG business model," namely hypersonic point-to-point, or P2P, air travel. His $22 price target factors in $10 per share in value for space tourism and $12 per share for the hypersonic opportunity, Jonas noted.

The analyst further notes Vodafone's efforts to transform itself from a "pure-play" mobile operator to a company offering a mix of communications services, including fixed broadband, video content, cloud and website hosting, which he expects to boost its earnings amid rising data traffic and growing customer base.

Lululemon price target raised to $247 from $216 at Deutsche Bank
Deutsche Bank analyst Paul Trussell raised his price target for Lululemon Athletica to $247 from $216 ahead of the company's fiscal Q3 results on December 11. The analyst increased his Q3 and go forward estimates on "solid" channel checks and the company's "impressive" product pipeline, which he says continues to expand into other categories such as outerwear. Trussell now models comps in the mid-teens for the remainder of the year, above guidance of low-teens, and he expect an earnings beat in Q3. The analyst keeps a Buy rating on Lululemon.

Netflix downgraded to Underperform from Hold at Needham
Needham analyst Laura Martin downgraded Netflix (NFLX) to Underperform from Hold without a price target. The streaming has consistently stated it will not have advertising, which will result in U.S. subscriber losses, Martin tells investors in a research note. She projects Netflix will lose 4M U.S. subs in 2020 at its premium priced tier of $9-$16 per month. The company must add a second, lower priced service to compete with Disney+ (DIS), Apple+ (AAPL), Hulu, CBS All Access (VIAC) and NBC's Peacock (CMCSA), each of which have $5-$7 per month choices, contends Martin. The analyst, who believes Netflix's balance sheet "cannot withstand lower revenue," recommends a six-to-minute per hour ad load to supplement a $5-$7 monthly consumer fee. She does not think the company's international subscriber growth can support its valuation and would find the stock more attractive around $260. Netflix closed Monday down $4.85 to $302.50.

Prudential (PRU) downgraded to Sell from Neutral at Citi with analyst Suneet Kamath saying previously, the analyst had been concerned with "when" Prudential would get back to above-peer growth and return on equity. Now, however, he's concerned "if" the company can get there, particularly if interest rates remain low. 3. CymaBay (CBAY) downgraded to In Line from Outperform at Evercore ISI and to Hold from Buy at Stifel. 4. ManTech (MANT) downgraded to Hold from Buy at SunTrust with analyst Tobery Sommer saying after the company's "above-average" organic growth of 10% this year, 2020 will be more "difficult," also noting that he sees his expected 10bp margin expansion next year as "adequately" priced in to the stock at current levels. 5. Molson Coors (TAP) downgraded to Equal Weight from Overweight at Barclays with analyst Lauren Lieberman saying after "too many disappointments for too long," improved revenue trends will need to be apparent before investors are willing to re-engage with the story. Netflix downgraded to Neutral from Buy with coverage transfer at Citi
Citi analyst Jason Bazinet downgraded Netflix to Neutral from Buy with a price target of $325, down from $410, after taking over coverage of the name. The stock closed Monday down $4.67 to $309.99. The analyst says consensus estimates are too high. Over the last seven years, there is a strong historical relationship between the company's cash outlays on content and its net subscriber additions, Bazinet tells investors in a research note. However, Street forecasts "materially deviate from this long-term pattern," contends the analyst. He believes this suggests Netflix's cash content costs need to rise, or net add forecasts need to fall. Bazinet's numbers suggest that if content costs rise, Netflix shares could fall 15%. If net add forecasts come down, the stock could fall 5%, adds the analyst.

Cantor sees over 66% chance of Constellation bidding for Canopy Growth
Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Pablo Zuanic is surprised it has taken this long for Constellation Brands (STZ) to appoint a new CEO at Canopy Growth (CGC) following the exit of Bruce Linton. Pundits trying to read the tea leaves could make arguments both pro and con regarding whether the probability of a bid for the entire company by Constellation has increased or not, Zuanic tells investors in a research note. For his part, the analyst thinks the probability of Constellation trying to acquire Canopy has increased. However, he admits it is not an easy strategic decision for Constellation given its balance sheet, likely mid- to high-teens earnings dilution from a deal for the 65% of Canopy it does not own, and likely near-term hit to its own share price. Nonetheless, Zuanic assigns a more than two-thirds probability to Constellation putting in a bid for all of the Canopy Growth equity in the near term. On the argument of an improving outlook for the cannabis industry, Constellation could justify a deal, contends the analyst, who has a Neutral rating on Canopy Growth with a C$18.90 price target.

Canopy Growth, Aurora Cannabis profitability hard to achieve, MKM Partners says
MKM Partners analyst Bill Kirk remains cautious on Canadian Cannabis producers, saying that consensus expectations are still "high as a kite". The analyst notes that the sector has recently rebounded to "prior earnings level share prices", but believes that the assumption of "massive revenue growth with hardly any absolute cost growth" embedded in consensus is "very unlikely". Kirk cites fresh signs of cracks in the Canada market - namely that pricing is down, gaps to illicit aren't closing, and consumption per federal license is contracting - which suggests that the near-term path to profitability looks challenged. Kirk keeps his Neutral rating and CAD23 price target on Canopy Growth (CGC) and Sells rating with CAD3 price target on Aurora (ACB).
