U.S. equities are stronger
U.S. equities are stronger as firmer than expected U.S. economic data adds to the risk-on tone that has accompanied the inking of the U.S.-China trade agreement and a mostly upbeat run of corporate earnings results. The Dow is up 0.3%, the S&P 500 has also gained 0.3% and the NASDAQ is 0.4% higher in pre-market futures trading. While the indexes faded from their best levels yesterday into the close, the Dow and S&P 500 managed to close at new record highs. In Europe, the mood is a bit more somber, with the Euro Stoxx 50 and France's CAC 40 flat while Germany's DAX is down -0.1%. The U.K.'s FTSE 100 has contracted -0.4%. Activity in Asia was mixed, as China's CSI 300 eroded -0.4%, but Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.4% and Japan's Nikkei 225 improved 0.1%.
