Apple says Microsoft's xCloud won't be available on iOS devices, BI reports » 19:0308/0608/06/20
Microsoft's (MSFT) upcoming cloud gaming service xCloud won't be available on Apple's (AAPL) iOS devices because Apple isn't able to review each title that's available through Microsoft's Game Pass subscription service, Business Insider's Ben Gilbert reports, citing an Apple spokesperson. "The App Store was created to be a safe and trusted place for customers to discover and download apps, and a great business opportunity for all developers," an Apple spokesperson told Business Insider. "Before they go on our store, all apps are reviewed against the same set of guidelines that are intended to protect customers and provide a fair and level playing field to developers." Since Microsoft isn't submitting each title on its service to the iPhone maker's review process, the app that enables access to those games is being barred from publishing, the author says. "Our customers enjoy great apps and games from millions of developers, and gaming services can absolutely launch on the App Store as long as they follow the same set of guidelines applicable to all developers, including submitting games individually for review, and appearing in charts and search," Apple said in a statement to Business Insider. "In addition to the App Store, developers can choose to reach all iPhone and iPad users over the web through Safari and other browsers on the App Store." Reference Link

Amazon Web Services (AMZN) announced the general availability of AWS Wavelength on Verizon's (VZ) 5G network, allowing developers to build ultra-low latency applications for mobile devices and users in Boston and the San Francisco Bay Area, beginning in San Jose today and extending to the rest of the Bay Area in the coming weeks. Customers can now deploy parts of their application that require ultra-low latency at the edge of 5G networks using the same AWS APIs, tools, and functionality they use today, while seamlessly connecting back to the rest of their application and the full range of cloud services running in an AWS Region. By embedding AWS compute and storage services at the edge of 5G networks, AWS Wavelength enables developers to serve edge computing use cases that require ultra-low latency like machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT), and video and game streaming.

As previously reported, KeyBanc analyst John Vinh upgraded Synaptics to Overweight from Sector Weight with a $100 price target. The analyst notes that Synaptics reported "strong" Q4 results that were above expectations and provided guidance that was largely in line with expectations. Vinh views his prior concerns associated with Apple's (AAPL) iPhone OLED touch share loss as largely de-risked with the recent acquisitions; views Broadcom (AVGO) IoT as a best-in-class asset and core to his Overweight thesis; and sees potential for a multiple rerating or potential takeout long-term.

Stifel analyst Mark Astrachan raised the firm's price target on Costco to $360 from $330 and keeps a Buy rating on the shares after the company reported total and U.S. core July comp growth of 15.8% and 15.7%, respectively. In addition to strong U.S. traffic comps came an 11.4% increase in average ticket, which he sees as a sign that higher total purchases are being sustained while visits increase, the analyst tells investors. He sees the July comp beat as suggestive of continued outperformance and share gains, Astrachan added.
