Takeda Pharmaceutical (TAK), Accenture (ACN) and Amazon (AMZN) Web Services have entered into a five-year strategic agreement to accelerate Takeda's digital transformation. "By combining the power of three organizations, Takeda is making a bold move to be at the intersection of human health, technology and business growth," said Christophe Weber, Takeda president and CEO. In addition, the Plasma-Derived Therapies Business Unit, which develops critical, life-saving and life-sustaining therapies for patients with rare and complex diseases, is creating state-of-the-art, digitally-connected donation centers and modernizing the donor experience, optimizing the plasma collection process. Takeda's plans to increase its plasma collection and manufacturing capacity by at least 65% by 2024 are geared towards expanding access to essential medicines and accelerating new treatments for patients.

"The solution expands on Accenture's contact tracing capability to help public health jurisdictions meet newly released guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in preparation for COVID-19 vaccine distribution. It brings together Accenture's industry, analytics and consulting experience and includes components built on the Salesforce platform. Local, state and national governments as well as healthcare organizations worldwide are expected to similarly undertake planning, development, coordination, distribution and management of COVID-19 immunization programs," the company stated.

Accenture has agreed to acquire Avenai, an Ottawa-based provider of consulting and technology services. Financial terms were not disclosed. The company said that with Avenai's significant focus on the public sector market, the acquisition will enhance Accenture's capacity to drive the technology transformation taking place across the public sector in Canada. Avenai founders Chris Brennan, Mike Scotten and Brendan Timmins will join Accenture as managing directors in its strategy and consulting practice. They will continue to lead the team they helped build at Avenai and will also work with Accenture leadership across other practices to shape and pursue new business opportunities. Avenai's employees will also join Accenture's strategy and consulting practice. The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions.
