The stock is up four-fold from the lows during the virus shutdown last year but "there is more upside," Ward tells investors in a research note. has AutoNation has benefited from an acceleration in U.S. new and used vehicle demand, positive pricing, and cost improvement, says the analyst. Ward expects the positive trends that continued in the first quarter will continue for all of 2021 and into 2022.

AutoNation announced it has signed an agreement to acquire 11 stores and 1 collision center operating in Hilton Head and Columbia, South Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia, from Peacock Automotive Group, representing approximately $380M in annual revenue.
