Reports Q2 revenue $567M, consensus $548.33M. Simon Turner, president and CEO of Venator, commented: "Strong global demand continued throughout the quarter and across our businesses. TiO2 fundamentals are trending progressively favorable, enabling us to increase selling prices and offset raw material, energy and shipping inflation. In the second quarter, average TiO2 selling prices increased 4% in local currency compared to the first quarter. During the second quarter we performed essential maintenance on part of our TiO2 facility in Greatham, UK which limited our sales volume and increased our costs. The maintenance has been successfully completed and the facility is fully operational."

William Blair downgrades AptarGroup after 'underwhelming quarter' » 07:1108/0208/02/21

William Blair analyst John Kreeger downgraded AptarGroup to Market Perform from Outperform without a price target post the Q2 results. The company's EBITDA margins were 170 basis points below a depressed year ago and 200 basis points below expectations as it encountered higher input costs, Kreeger tells investors in a research note. Further, commentary on Q3 indicated an extended recovery timeline and earnings about 12c below estimates, says the analyst. Following an "underwhelming quarter" and lower near-term guidance, Kreeger downgraded AptarGroup. He's now less confident in the timing and magnitude of a cyclical rebound in the non-pharma businesses.

"For the third…
"For the third quarter, the broader macro factors impacting our business are not anticipated to change dramatically from what we experienced in the second quarter. Looking ahead, we believe the second half will initially show gradually improving operating results from our position today, and we expect accelerated improvement toward the end of the year," said CEO Tanda. Third quarter results are anticipated to reflect continued gradual improvement in Aptar's beauty and beverage businesses as the reopening of economies is expected to continue at a measured pace given the uncertainties around the COVID-19 variants and limited resumption of intercontinental travel. The current inventory destocking cycle by our customers in the prescription drug market is expected to continue through the third quarter, with improving performance toward the end of the year. Additionally, Aptar expects ongoing steady demand for elastomer components for injection devices in the third quarter. The exceptionally strong custom tooling sales reported in the prior year third quarter by the Pharma segment's active material science solutions division, is not expected to repeat. While inflation and cost pressures continue to be a headwind, especially in raw material and transportation costs, Aptar will look to implement further price adjustments as necessary to pass on these costs over time.
