Commenting on the results for the quarter Mr. Martin Eurnekian, CEO of Corporacion America Airports, noted, "We started the year on a strong footing, delivering Adjusted EBITDA of $89 million up from $7 million in the year-ago quarter with improvement across all segments, and margin ex-IFRIC expanding to 36% from 6% in 1Q21. This performance was driven by a sustained pick-up in travel demand partially impacted by Omicron in January and February, tariff adjustments in some of our segments, together with a solid recovery in commercial revenues and a leaner cost structure. Traffic in 1Q22 stood at 65% pre-pandemic levels, however, revenues ex-IFRIC reached 78% of those reported in 1Q19." | ||||

Total passenger traffic in March 2022 grew 138.9% compared to the same period of last year, driven by increases across all countries of operations, particularly in Argentina, where traffic demand continued to recover following the full re-opening of borders on November 1, 2021 and the gradual relaxation of travel requirements. When compared to March 2019, overall passenger traffic declined 31.4%, improving from the 35% decline posted in February. Corporacion America… Corporacion America Airports announced that its subsidiary Inframerica, which operates the Brasilia Airport in Brazil, will start the expansion works of the airport site, in 2022. This is the second phase of the project, which will be carried out through partnerships, and will comprise the construction of a shopping mall and both, entertainment and logistic centers. The projects begin to be delivered at the end of 2023, with the completion of the works scheduled for the first half of 2024. Inframerica estimates investments of around R$700M, with the generation of around 3,500 direct and indirect new jobs. The first development of the project, "Praca Pick Up," a mobility center that among other things includes several food options and a children's playground, opened in September 2020. "Brasilia Airport has become a successful model in Brazil, being recognized for its management and infrastructure excellence. Our goal has always been to help the city grow, be more attractive, and these projects will contribute to tourism and the local economy of this beautiful capital city. The Brasilia terminal has always had this special connection with the city, a local meeting point. The support given by the Ministry of Infrastructure, the National Civil Aviation Agency , and the Federal District Government, GDF, as well as that of our commercial partners who strongly believed in the project, were fundamental," said Jorge Arruda, CEO of Inframerica and CFO of CAAP. | ||||

Total passenger traffic in November grew 1.8x compared to the same period of last year, driven by increases across all countries of operations, particularly in Argentina, reflecting easier comparisons due to tougher travel restrictions in the year ago period and the opening of borders since November 1. When compared to 2019, overall passenger traffic declined 35.0%, impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, though consistently improving from the 75.7% decline recorded in April. International and domestic passenger traffic dropped 50.4% and 28.1%, respectively, from pre-pandemic levels of November 2019. |
