On the Windows Blogs… On the Windows Blogs page, Panos Panay, Chief Product Officer, Windows and Devices wrote, in part: " As a team, we're thrilled to spend time with the developer community at Microsoft Build... we are sharing new updates to Windows 11 and the Microsoft Store for developers including: New app building tools to enable you to take your existing code and make it incredibly compelling on Windows...We are building toward our vision for a world of intelligent hybrid compute, bringing together local compute on the CPU, GPU, and NPU and cloud compute with Azure... In the future, moving compute workloads between client and cloud will be as dynamic and seamless as moving between Wi-Fi and cellular on your phone. Bringing Azure and Windows closer together will enable you to bring new classes of applications to life for your commercial and consumer customers. This journey begins with Windows 365, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and Azure Virtual Desktop and will continue with cloud and NPU processing on more Windows devices. We will also continue to bridge toward this future, utilizing our open platform, open store, and open hardware ecosystem to empower you to bring your skills, talent, and passion forward. Our goal with the open platform of Windows is to make it easy for you to build and run your apps on Windows, whether they're .NET, web, Android, C++, Linux, or any number of cross-platform frameworks. This makes it easy to use Windows for all your developer workflows and distribution models and reach more users to build your business your way." Reference Link ShowHide Related Items >><<

The National Labor… The National Labor Relations Board, NLRB, said Activision Blizzard enforced a social media policy that conflicted with workers' rights andd illegally threatened staff in the policy's enforcement, Reuters reports. Unless the company settles, the Los Angeles-based regional director of the NLRB will issue a complaint, a spokesperson said in a statement, according to Reuters. The NLRB has been investigating allegations since last September. "These allegations are false. Employees may and do talk freely about these workplace issues without retaliation, and our social media policy expressly incorporates employees' NLRB rights," a company spokesperson told Reuters. Workers at an Activision… Workers at an Activision (ATVI) studio in Wisconsin have voted to unionize, a first for the gaming industry, The New York Times' Kellen Browning reports. The new union affects only a small group of workers, just 28 quality-assurance workers at Activision's Raven Software studio in Wisconsin that helps develop the Call of Duty game. "Our biggest hope is that our union serves as inspiration for the growing movement of workers organizing at video game studios to create better games and build workplaces that reflect our values and empower all of us," workers in the new union said in a statement. Activision is in the process of being acquired by Microsoft (MSFT) for $70B. Reference Link ShowHide Related Items >><<

Jefferies analyst Brent… Jefferies analyst Brent Thill lowered the firm's price target on Microsoft to $325 from $400 and keeps a Buy rating on the shares. Thill has lowered forecasts across 28 software companies he covers given stiffening economic headwinds and the looming risk of recession and the multiples embedded in his new price targets are 25% lower, though he warns investors that he believes there could still be downside to multiples if fundamentals weaken further. RBC Capital analyst Brad… RBC Capital analyst Brad Erickson initiated coverage of Upwork with a Sector Perform rating and $21 price target. The analyst cites his balanced views of a large total addressable market and comprehensive services portfolio offset by rising customer acquisition cost, competitive intensity, and likely abating labor tailwinds. While the digital freelance opportunity should support double-digit growth, the cost of capital is tightening and LinkedIn represents a "meaningful overhang unlikely to go away anytime soon, Erickson tells investors in a research note. EA (EA) recently pursued… EA (EA) recently pursued a merger with NBCUniversal (CMCSA) and also held potential acquisition talks with Disney (DIS), Apple (AAPL), and other companies, Ethan Gach of Kotaku reports, citing a news report by Puck. While these deals are not currently in the works, it appears that EA will continue working on these plans. "Several sources familiar with these talks say EA has been persistent in pursuing a sale, and has only grown more emboldened in the wake of the Microsoft (MSFT) - Activision (ATVI) deal. Others say that EA is primarily interested in a merger arrangement that would allow Wilson to remain as chief executive of the combined company," wrote Dylan Beyers of Puck, according to Kotaku. Reportedly, the deal with NBCUniversal got the furthest along, but fell apart due to price, Beyers reported, according to Kotaku. "We don't comment on rumors and speculation relating to M&A," EA spokesperson John Reseburg told Kotaku in a statement. "We are proud to be operating from a position of strength and growth, with a portfolio of amazing games, built around powerful IP, made by incredibly talented teams, and a network of more than half a billion players."
