A federal judged has determined that Activision Blizzard can't be sued for trademark infringement for featuring Humvees in its "Call of Duty" games, contending that the game maker was shielded by the First Amendment, Law360 reports. The judge dismissed a complaint filed by car maker AM General over its famous track, saying that the game company had the right to use a real-life vehicle in a work that seeks to realistically depict modern warfare, the report says. Activision's 'Call of Duty' series 'firing on all cylinders,' says Stephens » 14:0603/3103/31/20
After Activision confirmed the release of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered," Stephens analyst Jeff Cohen maintained an Overweight rating and $72 price target on Activision Blizzard, saying the "Call of Duty" franchise is "really firing on all cylinders" at this time. Cohen said that while interest in single-player campaigns has waned and been replaced in the zeitgeist by competitive multiplayer modes, "Modern Warfare 2" received the highest Metacritic score in the series and is considered to have one of the "most memorable" campaigns. Given that, as well as the fact that the game is launching at a time of increased engagement, the analyst anticipates "strong demand," and believes that, according to his back-of-the-envelope analysis, this could add between 9c-16c to his 2020 adjusted EPS estimate of $2.47.
