S&P 500 rises to all time high at start of holiday-shortened session

Investors returning from the Thanksgiving holiday are receiving a bit of holiday cheer as the S&P 500 has risen to an all time-high early in the Black Friday session. On a day that is expected to be light on newsflow, the next scheduled event will be Markit's release of its November PMI flash readings at 9:45 am ET. In early trading, the Dow is up 35 points, the Nasdaq is up 12 points and the S&P is up 5 points.
