Opening this weekend, and expected to finish third, is Time Warner's (TWX) Warner Bros. war drama "12 Strong," starring Chris Hemsworth, Michael Shannon, and Michael Pena, which is expected to gross $10M-$14M at just over 3,000 theaters. Rounding out the top five are two more returning films -- 21st Century Fox's circus drama "The Greatest Showman," which is expected to earn about $10M, and Lionsgate's (LGF.A) thriller "The Commuter," which is expected to earn just over $6M. Also opening this weekend, but expected to finish outside the top five, is STX Entertainment's action thriller "Den of Thieves," which is expected to open in the $6M range.
