Box Office Battle: 'Jurassic' sequel expected to roar past 'Incredibles' sequel

Opening this weekend, and expected to win the box office, is Comcast (CMCAS, CMCSK) subsidiary Universal's "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom," the sequel to "Jurassic World," with both Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard returning as the leads. The dinosaur saturated action-adventure already earned $15.3M in Thursday night previews, and is looking to domestically gross $125M-$145M for its first weekend at theaters. Disney's (DIS) animated superhero sequel "Incredibles 2" is expected to take second place this weekend, after winning last weekend's box office with a domestic total of $180M. The film should finish the weekend with a total near $90M-$92M. Warner Bros. "Ocean's 8" is expected to finish third in its third weekend at theaters. The action/adventure heist flick, starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, and Rihanna, which takes place in the same cinematic universe as the "Ocean's Eleven" trilogy, is expected to earn $9M-$10M. Other publicly traded companies in filmmaking include 21st Century Fox (FOX, FOXA), Lionsgate (LGF.A, LGF.B), Sony (SNE), and Viacom (VIA, VIAB).
