On The Fly: ETF fund flow highlights

For the week shortened by last Friday's holiday, creations bested redemptions in the top twenty ETFs by a factor of 1.85 to 1 per data from ETF.com. There was no skew in the top funds in the creation side with the top six funds accounting for over 80% of inflows. Those funds were the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ), iShares iBoxx USD High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYG), iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV), ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK), iShares U.S. Real Estate ETF (IYR), and the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI). On the redemptions side the skew in funds was sharper with over 36% of outflows stemming from the iShares iBoxx USD Investment Grade Corporate Bond ETF (LQD). There was a sharp drop thereafter to the Invesco DWA Momentum ETF (PDP), iShares MBS ETF (MBB), and the ProShares UltraPro QQQ (TQQQ). Those funds combined summed to over 27% of outflows. The SPDR Gold Trust (GLD) also saw a notable outflow that was over 7.7% of redemptions.
