On The Fly: ETF fund flow highlights
For the week the top twenty ETF fund flows were dominated by creations over redemptions by a factor of more than 1.49 to 1, per data from ETF.com. On the creations side it was S&P 500 funds that comprised the majority of inflows constituting over 45%. The ETFs included the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO), SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY), Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF (RSP), SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 Value ETF (SPYV), and Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV). The Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was the single largest inflow to an ETF at over 23%. On the redemptions side the S&P 500 was also dominant at over 43% of outflows. Those funds included the Industrial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLI), iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV), iShares U.S. Real Estate ETF (IYR), and Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE). Bond funds were over 21% of outflows including the SPDR Bloomberg Barclays High Yield Bond ETF (JNK) and iShares iBoxx USD High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYG). The single largest outflow was from the iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM) at over 20% of redemptions.
