"Box Office Battle" is The Fly's weekly roundup of what movies topped the weekend's box office.
AT&T (T) subsidiary Warner Bros.' "It: Chapter Two" opened to $91M domestically as it became the second-best horror showing of all times. Overseas, the pic earned an estimated $94M from 75 markets for $185M globally. The sequel received a B+ CinemaScore and 67% on Rotten Tomatoes.
BOX OFFICE RUNNERS-UP: Lionsgate's (LGF.A) "Angel has Fallen" fell to number two in its third outing with $6M for a domestic total of $53.5M. Behind it was Comcast (CMCSA) subsidiary Universal's "Good Boys," earning $5.4M in its fourth weekend for a domestic cume of $66.9M and $82.4M globally. Disney's (DIS) "The Lion King" placed number four, grossing $4.2M domestically in its eighth weekend. Rounding out the top five, "Overcomer" from Sony's (SNE) Affirm films grossed an estimated $3.8M from 2,610 locations.
