Baird continues to like the Activision Blizzard (ATVI) acquisition of King Digital (KING) and sees the company's broadening media strategy creating "Disney-like expansion opportunities." The firm said the company's 2016 lineup looks robust and its newly owned film/TV studio will leverage the company's existing IP to create both short and long-form content. Baird reiterated its Outperform rating and $38 price target on Activision Blizzard shares.

Warner Bros.' (TWX) "Justice League" opened to a disappointing $96M in North America, the lowest domestic opening of any title in the DC Extended Universe. Faring better overseas, the superhero mashup debuted to $185.5M from 65 markets. "Justice League" received a B+ CinemaScore and 37% from Rotten Tomatoes. BOX OFFICE RUNNERS-UP: Lionsgate's (LGF.A) "Wonder" came in second, opening to $27.1M after galvanizing elementary school kids across America. Behind it was Disney (DIS) and Marvel Studios' "Thor: Ragnarok," with $21.8M in the movie's third outing for a domestic total of $247.7M. Paramount's (VIAB) "Daddy's Home 2" placed number four, earning $14.8M for a 10-day domestic total of $50.6M. Rounding out the top five, 20th Century Fox's (FOXA) "Murder on the Orient Express" ended the weekend with $13.8M for a domestic tally of $51.7M. Other publicly traded companies in filmmaking include Sony (SNE), and Comcast (CMCSA; CMCSK).
