Jefferies equity strategist Sean Darby said the firm has upgraded its view on the Information Technology sector to Bullish given the view that "a tradeable rally is unfolding" as the overshoot in the dollar and credit spreads reverses and financial conditions ease, temporarily at least. The IT sector has had "a decent, broad-based" Q1 earnings season with about 80% of companies beating estimates, noted Darby, who adds that new order and backlog fundamentals are "still firm," while valuations in the group have "crashed." In the note, he highlights the 10 S&P 500 IT Index stocks with the best forward return of capital and free cash flow yield that are covered by Jefferies, namely HP Inc. (HPQ), HP Enterprise (HPE), Qualcomm (QCOM), Cisco (CSCO), Applied Materials (AMAT), Global Payments (GPN), Lam Research (LRCX), Juniper (JNPR), IBM (IBM) and Microchip (MCHP).
