Raymond James analyst Sam Darkatsh noted that the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, or AHAM, reported that U.S. appliance industry wholesale unit shipments of "core 6" appliances were down 7% year-over-year in January. He noted that his Q1 model for Whirlpool assumes North America unit shipments being down 1.7% year-over-year, though this is not perfectly comparable with AHAM since the North America segment includes Canada and non-AHAM units such as small appliances. Darkatsh has a Market Perform rating on Whirlpool shares.
