"Box Office Battle" is The Fly's weekly roundup of what movies topped the weekend's box office.
Tim Burton's sequel "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" stayed atop the North American box office with $51.6M as it moved towards the $200M mark domestically. Overseas, the Warner Bros.' (WBD) movie grossed an estimated $28.7M for a foreign cume of $76.3M and $364.3M globally. The film received a B+ CinemaScore and sports a Rotten Tomatoes critics score of 76%.
BOX OFFICE RUNNER-UPS: Comcast (CMCSA) subsidiary Universal's "Speak No Evil" placed number 2 with a $11.5M debut. Behind it was Disney (DIS) and Marvel's "Deadpool & Wolverine" with an estimated $5.2M for a domestic tally of $621.5M and $1.305B worldwide. Conservative provocateur Matt Walsh's "Am I Racist?" placed number 4 with an estimated $4.8M, the top debut of 2024 for a documentary, as it makes big business in conservative markets in the South, Midwest and Mountain States. Rounding out the top five, the indie Ronald Reagan biopic "Reagan" grossed an estimated $3M in its third weekend.
