Check out today's top analyst calls from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly.
BUY ALPHABET, FACEBOOK: Wolfe Research analyst Deepak Mathivanan initiated coverage of Alphabet (GOOGL) with an Outperform rating and $2,450 price target. The analyst thinks Alphabet should be a core holding in any growth-oriented tech portfolio. The company's sale growth in the core advertising business "could easily remain around mid- to high-teens for the next several years," Mathivanan told investors in a research note.
The analyst also initiated coverage of Facebook (FB) with an Outperform rating as part of a broader research note on the Global Internet group. The analyst contended that the total number of advertisers on Facebook has grown massively over the last few years, and he expects the company to "likely compound north of 25%" in "steady" growth for the next two years at least.
Meanwhile, Mathivanan assumed coverage of Amazon.com (AMZN) with an Outperform rating and $3,720 price target. Amazon should be a core holding in any long-term growth-oriented tech portfolio, he contended. The analyst believes that among all the mega-cap internet companies, Amazon "still has the largest white space ahead in both retail and cloud."

LONG-TERM GAINS: Piper Sandler analyst Thomas Champion assumed coverage of Netflix (NFLX) with an Overweight rating and $605 price target. The company has established a "growth template" that includes consistent subscriber gains, modest price increases and "unrivaled" original content production and quality, Champion told investors in a research note. The analyst sees a "strong narrative for long-term gains" and says the shares look attractive after trading sideways since July.
ACCELERATING GROWTH: Jefferies analyst Brent Thill initiated coverage of Uber with a Buy rating and $75 price target. Uber is "ideally positioned" for accelerating growth and to reach profitability as vaccines roll out, Thill told investors in research note. He believes the company's Mobility unit should see a strong rebound in fiscal 2021 while growth at the Delivery business, which proved to be a "great hedge" during the pandemic, will see some deceleration but remain high as ordering habits from the COVID period persist. Thill named Uber a top reopening play.
ON THE SIDELINES: Barclays analyst Brian Johnson initiated coverage of Fisker (FSR) with an Equal Weight rating and $17 price target. Fisker, by focusing on its core skills of design while outsourcing manufacturing, is more capital efficient to launch cars, and has the potential "to offer fast-cycle design more akin to fashion than automotive," Johnson told investors in a research note. While the shares, if the company hits its goals, look cheap relative to Tesla (TSLA), the Fisker story "is not without considerable risk," Johnson added. He sees risk to the shares as the 180-day post-merger lockup expires on April 27 and up to 43M shares become unrestricted.
MORE BALANCED RISK-REWARD: UBS analyst Brennan Hawken downgraded Goldman Sachs (GS) to Neutral from Buy with a higher price target of $340, up from $320. The stock has "substantially outperformed" and now reflects a "solid" mid-teen ROTE, which is in line with the management's target, the analyst told investors in a research note. Hawken added however that the risk-reward is "more balanced" and risks for Goldman Sachs "seem on the rise." While capital markets tailwinds are strong, it is hard to expect sustained robust growth given record setting volumes in many of its businesses, he added.
