Comcast (CMCSA) subsidiary Universal's "Kung Fu Panda 4" won this weekend at the North American box office with a $58.3M debut, exceeding expectations in a near-series best. The movie directed by Mike Mitchell, who also commanded "Trolls" and "Shrek Forever After," received an A- CinemaScore from audiences.
BOX OFFICE RUNNER-UPS: Warner Bros. (WBD) and Legendary's "Dune: Part Two" placed number two with another $46M in its second outing. Behind it was Lionsgate's (LGF.B) "Imaginary," which opened to $10M. Another debut placed number four. Angel Studios' "Cabrini" earned an estimated $7.6M. Rounding out the top five, Paramount's (PARA) "Bob Marley: One Love" grossed about $4.1M.
