Moving from theflyonthewall.com to thefly.comTop
I am a current theflyonthewall.com subscriber. What can I expect when I log into thefly.com?
Here's what you need to know:
What will happen to my portfolio when I first log into thefly.com? Your portfolio from the traditional website will carry over to thefly.com upon logging in for the first time. The portfolio will be listed as "Main Portfolio." You can add up to 11 more portfolios. Thefly.com has enhanced portfolio features and allows you to create up to 12 portfolios with up to 150 stocks in each. The traditional website allows for only one portfolio. Portfolio alert emails will be generated from the last site you logged into. Thus, if you set up more than one portfolio on thefly.com, and then log into the traditional website, you will not receive alerts on your new portfolios. You will only receive alert emails for thefly.com portfolios if that website is last one you logged into.
Are subscriptions changing with the launch of thefly.com?
In conjunction with the launch of thefly.com, The Fly is simplifying its subscription model into only two tiers. To see our new subscription model click here.
How will my subscription from theflyonthewall.com transition to thefly.com? If your current theflyonthewall.com subscription is to all Fly services, nothing will change as you start using thefly.com. You can simply login and keep enjoying the same access to which you are accustomed. If you have a partial subscription to theflyonthewall.com, for example, News only or Syndicate only, you can enjoy thefly.com in its entirety, free of charge, for 60 days. Your 60 day full-site access will begin the first day you log in at thefly.com. After 60 days, your access to thefly.com will revert to the original access you have currently at www.theflyonthewall.com .
How do I know what level of subscription I currently have on
theflyonthewall.com
?
In the upper right corner of the page, click on Account Profile and Settings, then click the Billing
tab to see details about your current subscription.
If my existing subscription is not to all parts of theflyonthewall.com, what parts of thefly.com will I
be able to access when the 60 day preview ends? As an existing and loyal subscriber, we are grandfathering your current subscription onto the new site at no additional charge. Therefore, all the information you access on the traditional website will work on thefly.com at the same billing rate, even if your current subscription is no longer offered to new Fly subscribers. If you would like to keep the level of access enjoyed during the 60 day trial, you will need to upgrade your subscription to Full Access. Click here for a plan comparison.
Do I need to do anything when the 60 day trial period ends?
No, when the trial period ends, all the information you can access on the traditional website will
be available to you on
thefly.com
with no additional action on your part. However, if you would
like to keep the level of access enjoyed during the 60 day trial, you will need to upgrade your
subscription to Full Access.
What if I still have questions regarding the transition to
thefly.com
?

Site FeaturesTop
Breaking NewsTop
What is found in the site's Breaking News section?
The Breaking News section of the site is a live news feed of information that is moving the market. The feed scrolls continuously, displaying any content that is added to the site.
What do the icons next to the stories mean?
Below are the categories of stories on the Breaking News feed:
What does it mean if a story is shaded red?
When a story is deemed important and seen as having the potential to quickly or significantly move a stock's price, the editors at The Fly may highlight it, meaning that it will briefly have a red background to stand out from the rest of the stories on the news feed.
This is too much information for me. How can I filter the Breaking News feed to see only what I need?
There are two main ways to tailor the Breaking News feed to meet your unique needs: by changing the Filters or viewing a Portfolio News feed.
Can I create an updating news feed for just stocks in one of my portfolios?
Yes. The Fly allows users to monitor a feed of stories focused only on the stocks in one of their portfolios. To view your selected portfolio in place of breaking news from all companies, select one of your portfolios from the drop-down box and click Search. This feed will automatically update as news breaks on stocks in your selected portfolio.
Why can't I view selected information on the Breaking News page?
Some news content can only be viewed with a subscription. Subscribe now
or learn more about our subscription plans.
What is the Breaking News Pop-out?
The Breaking News Pop-out is a feature available only to subscribers that allows the breaking news feed to be viewed as a separate webpage with a slimmed down interface.
Why does The Fly report on rumors?
The Fly, in fulfilling its mission of explaining stock movement, often comes across the many
unconfirmed rumors being passed through trading desks and social media platforms. On the
occasion that rumors or speculation appear on The Fly's news feed, it should be viewed not as
giving credence to the conjecture, rather as simply highlighting its impact on the stock prices of
the companies involved.
On The FlyTop
What is found in the On The Fly section?
A feature of The Fly is the On The Fly tab, which focuses on stories that are
exclusive to thefly.com. The page includes stories about the day's most notable movers, commentary on the major averages and the broader market and previews of upcoming events, such as earnings reports.
Portfolios & AlertsTop
What are Fly Portfolio Alerts?
The Fly can alert you about breaking news on the stocks in your portfolios to make sure you never fall behind on the most important stories moving those shares. Alerts can come in any combination of a pop-up window, an email and a sound. Portfolio Alerts are specific to stocks that you indicate you are interested in and triggered when ANY type of news is added about those stocks. So, if you have a position in Apple and want to make sure you don't miss any breaking news about the company, add stock symbol AAPL to your portfolio and we'll keep you up-to-the-second on it, in the way that you choose.
How do I set up a portfolio?
Follow these step-by-step instructions:
How many portfolios can I have?
If you have the Basic Plan subscription, you can have 1 portfolio with 150 individual stocks. If
you have Full Access, you can have up to 12 portfolios. You are limited to 150 individual stocks
in each portfolio.
How can I add many stocks to a portfolio?
In order to add a large number of stock tickers to a portfolio, you can cut and paste from Excel,
Word or another program. To do this:
Can I import a portfolio from Excel or another program?
No, an import feature is not currently included. However, you can easily cut and paste from Excel to add a large number of stocks to a portfolio using these instructions.
What can I find in the My Portfolios section?
The My Portfolios section provides subscribers with a unique graphical representation of how much news activity there has been in their selected portfolios over a certain time period. Users can select their preferred time frame from the drop-down box at the top of the page. Additionally, the My Portfolios page provides an easy-to-use interface for making changes to portfolios by clicking the pencil icon or to launch a portfolio news feed by clicking the magnifying glass icon.
What other types of alerts does The Fly offer?
In addition to Portfolio Alerts, you can sign up to receive a heads-up (either via a pop-up window, an email, a sound, or any combination of the three) whenever The Fly adds a certain type of story to our site. So, if you want to know about any and all analyst comments that we report, add a Street Research alert. Or, if you want to stay current on all IPO and stock offering news, create a Syndicate alert.
How do I set up a notification for a certain type of story?
Follow these step-by-step instructions:
For example, if you want to know whenever new Street Research is added to our news feed, check off Pop-up or Email, or select a sound, or pick any combination of the three, next to Street Research and you will be alerted in the way(s) you chose.
What are Fly Morning Newsletters?
The Fly offers three types of Morning Newsletters: News, Events and Syndicate. The Newsletters come in the form of e-mails which are delivered daily to your inbox before the market opens. The Events and Syndicate Newsletters contain all of the stories that have been published up to 7:15 AM from the specified area of the site. The News Newsletter contains all stories published before 8:30 AM.
How do I choose to receive a Fly Morning Newsletter?
If you would like to subscribe to any (or all) of the Fly Newsletters, click My Account in the upper right hand corner of any page on the site then select Alerts on the drop-down menu. Under the Story Alerts tab, choose the associated check boxes to begin receiving (or stop receiving) the Newsletter the next morning. You MUST click the Save button at the bottom of the page for the changes to take effect.
Okay, so how can I use Alerts to get the most out of The Fly?
Well, there are too many ways to list...the Alert system is one of the most powerful features of the site! But, since you asked, here are some suggestions:
If users have other suggestions about how you use Alerts, we'd love to hear them; just Send Info and share with us. We'll keep the FAQ up-to-date.
I am getting too many alerts. Can I select what kinds of alerts I receive on stock in my portfolio?
If you have a stock in your portfolio, you will receive alerts on all stories entered on that name. At this time there is no way to reduce portfolio stock alerts by eliminating certain story types.
I have a pop-up blocker activated on my browser. Will I still receive pop-up alerts?
Yes. The alerts you receive won't be in a new window so the browser won't block them.
Events CalendarTop
What is contained in the Events calendar?
The Events section of the site is a comprehensive calendar which includes:
Why can't I view selected information on the Events page?

Fly CastTop
What is Fly Cast?
Fly Cast is like a traditional Wall Street squawk box, but for individual investors. It's an audio product that broadcasts only the most critical news before the market opens and features break-in calls during the trading day. Before market, Fly Cast will ready you for the trading session with updates on market-moving events from after yesterday's close and before the day's action. While the market is open, Fly Cast will break-in with analyst calls and top stories the moment they hit. Subscribers have told us that they prefer our intra-day style, which only announces when meaningful news pops to one filled with constant, distracting chatter.
How does Fly Cast differ from a financial radio or television broadcast?
In two primary ways:
So, in short, Fly Cast is only the news you need, at the moment you need it, without all the noise and the filler.
I clicked on the Fly Cast play button and it looks like the audio is on...but I don't hear anything. What is wrong?
Most likely, nothing is wrong. Fly Cast only broadcasts critical news as it breaks so if you are listening between news breaks, you may not hear anything. But, if you are certain you are experiencing a technical difficulty, click here to notify us.
How do I turn on Fly Cast?
You can access Fly Cast from the bottom of any page once you are logged in. If you're not a
Full Access subscriber or you are not logged in, you will not see the Fly Cast player at the
bottom of the page. Once you have logged in, click on Fly Cast at the bottom of the page. A box
will pop up with and the player will be running. Keep in mind there isn't constant sound, so you
may need to keep it running for a few minutes before hearing a breaking story.
To try Fly Cast, sign up for a free trial here. If you have a Basic Plan and want to upgrade to Full Access and get Fly Cast, you can log into your account to compare plans and change your subscription.
