Nintendo to discontinue 'NES Classic' product, IGN says

Nintendo plans to discontinue the "NES Classic Edition," a retro gaming console released late last year to strong consumer demand, reports IGN, citing company statements. The company stated, "Throughout April, NOA territories will receive the last shipments of... systems for this year. We encourage anyone interested in obtaining this system to check with retail outlets regarding availability. We understand that it has been difficult for many consumers to find a system, and for that we apologize. We have paid close attention to consumer feedback, and we greatly appreciate the incredible level of consumer interest and support for this product." A Nintendo representative also told IGN, "NES Classic Edition wasn't intended to be an ongoing, long-term product. However, due to high demand, we did add extra shipments to our original plans." GameStop estimates lowered after lukewarm Nintendo Switch survey at Loop Capital
Loop Capital analyst Anthony Chukumba lowered his FY17 EPS estimate for GameStop (GME) to $3.70 from $3.77 after his firm's survey showed the relatively short battery life, title lineup, and initial price of Nintendo's (NTDOY) upcoming Switch hybrid console are problematic for gamers and the survey results made him less positive about the Switch's debut. However, as he believes Switch sales expectations are already fairly muted, he keeps a Buy rating on GameStop share.

GameStop outlook still positive despite weak software sales, says BofA/Merrill
After February software sales tumbled 25.6%, BofA/Merrill analyst Curtis Nagle says the sales decrease may have been largely caused by tax refund delays. He adds that the launch of Nintendo (NTDOY) Switch should be positive for GameStop (GME). He thinks that his revenue estimates for GameStop are conservative. Nagle keeps a Buy rating on the stock.

STMicroelectronics to benefit from content jump in iPhone 8, says Craig-Hallum
Craig-Hallum analyst Anthony Stoss raised his STMicroelectronics' (STM) March and June quarter estimates to account for content increases in Samsung's (SSNLF) Galaxy S8 and Apple's (AAPL) iPhone 8, coupled with continued strong demand for the Nintendo (NTDOY) Switch and strength in the company's connected car business. The analyst says STMicroelectronics remains one of his top names in 2017 and would be a buyer heading into both the S8 and iPhone 8 launches. He reiterates a Buy rating and $18 price target on STMicroelectronics' shares.
