AT&T downgraded to Neutral from Buy at BofA/Merrill
BofA/Merrill analyst David Barden downgraded AT&T (T) to Neutral from Buy and cut its price target to $39 from $46 on reduced visibility into catalysts such as corporate tax reform and potential headwinds from the Time Warner (TWX) merger. Barden expects the associated overhang of $40B in new equity issuance and the tightening of the deal spread will increasingly pressure AT&T's stock. Additionally, the analyst trimmed Q2 estimates due to a seasonally difficult quarter saying video, voice, and broadband metrics are expected to be challenging and AT&T is losing share in each category.

FactSet price target raised to $185 from $179 at Credit Suisse
Credit Suisse analyst Anjaneya Singh raised his price target for FactSet to $185 from $179 following quarterly results. The analyst says the company's quarter over quarter deceleration in ASV continues to be "frustrating," but believes this to be a latent impact of client pull-back referenced on prior calls, and not an indication of the environment worsening. With the long-term opportunity intact, a strong execution track record, and a balance sheet that continues to provide optionality, Singh finds FactSet attractive, especially on recent pullback. He reiterates an Outperform rating on the shares.

Gigamon worth $50-$55 per share to acquirer, says Needham
After Reuters reported that Gigamon (GIMO) has responded to Elliot Management's urging and has undertaken an active review of its options, including a potential sale, Needham analyst Alex Henderson estimated that a fair value for Gigamon is in the $50-$55 range. Henderson - who lists Cisco (CSCO), Juniper (JNPR), F5 (FFIV), HP (HPE), Dell/EMC (EMC), Palo Alto (PANW), and Fortinet (FTNT) among the companies that he thinks could be interested - said he would not be surprised to see Gigamon attract multiple suitors. Gigamon recovering and remains possible target, says Needham
Needham analyst Alex Henderson believes Gigamon is "showing clear signs of a sustained recovery" following its Q2 results. He reiterates a Buy rating on the shares with a $50 price target. If the company does not deliver, activist Elliott will likely force the board's hand and into a takeover, Henderson tells investors in a post-earnings research note. He thinks a single bidder could result in $50-$55 per share buyout price whereas a multi-bidder process could result in a $60-plus valuation.

Comcast should acquire Verizon for four reasons, says Citi
Citi analyst Jason Bazinet says Comcast (CMCSA) should acquire Verizon (VZ) for four reasons. Wireless would allow Comcast to extend Internet connectivity beyond the home, the deal would allow the company to push fiber deeper into neighborhoods, Verizon is apt to be the second biggest beneficiary of wireless consolidation, and Comcast could see upside if the tax code changes, Bazinet tells investors in a research note titled "Stars Are Aligning for Comcast + Verizon." The analyst sees the timing for a deal as right given Comcast's history of "trying to acquire assets that have fallen on difficult times" and the potential for a more amendable regulatory landscape under President Trump. Further, 2017 is the first year where Comcast's market capitalization exceeds Verizon's, the analyst adds. He estimates the pro forma combined company would generate $2.1B of annual synergies. Assuming a 20% premium for Verizon's equity, paid via 75% equity and 25% cash, Bazinet estimates Comcast shares would rise to $41. The stock closed yesterday up 28c to $39.75. Bazinet thinks Dish (DISH) could be the biggest loser should Comcast acquire Verizon, and he double downgraded the shares this morning to Sell from Buy.

LivePerson new market opportunity emerging, says Roth Capital
Roth Capital analyst Richard Baldry notes that LivePerson (LPSN) has announced support for a new Google (GOOGL; GOOG) AdWords technology extension that enables consumers to message companies directly from "pay-per-click" ads, which he views as a positive incremental growth opportunity. Given this is a dominant form of mass-market digital advertising, the analyst believes this should open up new growth opportunities in 2017 as recognition of its availability grows. Jefferies sees Sprint takeover by Comcast, Charter as less likely
Jefferies analyst Mike McCormack says this morning's Wall Street Journal report exclusive talks between Sprint (S) and Comcast (CMCSA)/Charter (CHTR) is not surprising. He believes the cable operators are looking for better MVNO terms and that an outright acquisition or equity stake is less likely. The report provides an indication of just how far apart Sprint and T-Mobile (TMUS) may be in any discussions, McCormack tells investors in a research note. The exclusive talks may also push T-Mobile closer to DISH (DISH), the analyst adds.

Verizon shares could rise to $51 but outlook still mixed, says BTIG
BTIg analyst Walter Piecyk believes that Verizon's (VZ) stock can rise to $51. He notes that the company's wireless "margins and churn are still near record levels," while Sprint's (S) CEO expects prices for unlimited data plans to rise. Additionally, the analyst believes that the chances of Verizon making "a large dilutive acquisition" have decreased, while Verizon would benefit from a merger of Sprint and T-Mobile (TMUS). However, the analyst lowered his estimates for Verizon ,and he thinks that the company's dividend could be at risk over the longer term. Moreover, he warns that the stock could come under pressure if the T-Mobile/Sprint merger falls through, while a new , "well-funded" competitor could enter the wireless space. He keeps a Neutral rating on Verizon.

Charter offer would likely have to be at least $500 per share, says JPMorgan
JPMorgan analyst Philip Cusick believes SoftBank (SFTBY) is one of the few companies that could offer a big enough price to take control of Charter Communications (CHTR). While a deal is not very likely, Softbank Chairman Masayoshi Son "is never to be counted out as a buyer," Cusick tells investors in a research note. He believes a Charter acquisition offer would likely have to be in the $500 per share or higher range. Charter shares in premarket trading are up $31.74 to $402 after the Wall Street Journal reported Friday night that SoftBank has interest in merging the company with Sprint. Cusick estimates annual synergies between Sprint (S) and Charter could be around $2B, with minimal cost to integrate versus a Sprint and T-Mobile (TMUS) merger "which would have more eventual cost savings but cost much more to integrate." A Sprint and Charter deal would not have a difficult regulatory review, the analyst believes. Cusick adds that if Charter looked like it was going to sell to Softbank, Comcast (CMCSA) would have to decide if it ever did want to buy Charter and "move more quickly with an even bigger premium."
