Five9 price target raised to $45 from $38 at Needham
Needham analyst Scott Berg raised his price target on Five9 to $45 and kept his Buy rating after its Q2 earnings beat, also noting that the company's revenue growth of 28% was its fastest rate of acceleration in nearly 2 years. Berg further cites the "confluence of continued strength upmarket with larger deals and larger deal volume along with unexpected strength in its commercial segment", adding that Five9 sales metrics continue to point to strong demand that can drive revenue growth rate in the mid-20% over the intermediate term.

Semi fundamentals look worse today than in 2015 down cycle, says Morgan Stanley
Morgan Stanley analyst Craig Hettenbach noted that the selloff in semiconductor stocks has been "swift and painful" and could be getting overdone near-term, though he worries the group is "by no means out of the woods" given his view that semi fundamentals today are worse than they were in the 2015 down cycle. Specifically, Hettenbach points to the degree of excess that built up in the supply chain this time, stating that the increase in lead times, double ordering, and inventory accumulation is markedly different to the period that preceded the last time there were broad-based semi estimate cuts in the second half of 2015. Semi sector estimates have only just recently started to come down and there are growing investor expectations that companies will guide Q4 revenue at least a few percent below the Street, added Hettenbach, who said the "upcoming earnings season will be the big test."

Sensata downgraded to Underweight on rising cyclical risks at Morgan Stanley
As previously reported, Morgan Stanley analyst Craig Hettenbach downgraded Sensata (ST) to Underweight from Equal Weight as he thinks a recent slowing across its end markets, particularly autos, which make up 60% of sales, increase the risk of a miss in Q4. He notes that the stock has held up much better in the last few weeks than other semi companies - such as Texas Instruments (TXN), ON Semiconductor (ON) and Cypress Semiconductor (CY) - facing similar risks, which leads Hettenbach to think Sensata is more susceptible to any disappointment. While the key driver of his downgrade is cyclical concerns, the analyst also noted that he is keeping an eye on the increased traction that TE Connectivity (TEL) and Amphenol (APH) are seeing in sensors. Hettenbach lowered his price target on Sensata shares to $47 from $55.

TrueCar guidance cut likely to shake investor confidence, says Benchmark

Given the likely reduction in forecasts and "large amount of public skepticism," Kurnos still feels the risk/reward is tilted to the upside and would use any post-earnings selloff as a longer-term buying opportunity. AMC buying shares from Wanda a 'major positive,' says Imperial Capital
Imperial Capital analyst David Miller views AMC Entertainment buying back 24M shares from Wanda as a "major positive." The overhang on the stock created by the uncertainty surrounding what Wanda might do has been an issue for over one year now, and so any transaction which decreases that uncertainty may help AMC investors "sleep a little easier," Miller tells investors in a research note. The analyst believes that while the risk is still there for Wanda to :easily dump more shares in the open market," this is unlikely to happen given that private equity firm Silver Lake, the lead sponsor on the transaction, will retain right of first refusal for two years on future transfers of AMC shares. This in effect issues a "rhetorical vote of confidence to the current management team," Miller says. He keeps an Outperform rating on AMC with a $23 price target.

Boeing, Tesla, Nvidia make Morgan Stanley 'key man risk' list
Morgan Stanley equity strategist Mark Savino noted that about 12% of CEO jobs among S&P 500 companies turned over in 2017, noting that this was the highest level of CEO departures since before the financial crisis. The 59 stocks of S&P 500 companies that had CEOs depart in 2017 underperformed the market by 11% over the next 12 months, or since the departure for instances that were less than 12 months ago, noted Savino. In cooperation with the firm's U.S. analysts, Savino and his team identified the companies in each sector they believe face the greatest level of "key man risk," which includes: Boeing (BA), Tesla (TSLA), ADT Inc. LogMeln upgraded to Outperform on stabilizing concerns at Oppenheimer
As previously reported, Oppenheimer analyst Shaul Eyal upgraded LogMeIn to Outperform from Perform, with a $105 price target. In light of a soft 1H18 performance, the analyst views the company's recent retention concerns as gradually stabilizing per his industry checks. Further, he believes LogMeIn's position in the highly competitive UCaas and Enterprise Collaboration arenas is largely intact despite the recent emergence of newcomers.

LogMeln price target lowered to $90 from $95 at Piper Jaffray
Piper Jaffray analyst Alex Zukin lowered his price target for LogMeln to $90 ahead of the company's Q3 results on October 25 and keeps a Neutral rating on the shares. Field work suggests "continued volatility" on fundamentals with pricing/packaging changes, sales turnover and early renewal activity, Zukin tells investors in a research note. JPMorgan lists potential Software takeover targets after Red Hat deal
The volume of acquisitions in Software appears to be picking up with over 70 transactions announced year-to-date including last night's Red Hat (RHT) takeover by IBM (IBM), JPMorgan analyst Sterling Auty tells investors in a research note. The analyst puts the deals announced this year into three buckets: strategic, where the acquirer looks to gain a strong foothold in a new segment, vertical acquiring companies, and valuation, with acquirers going after assets with discounted valuations. Auty sees number of companies fitting those same characteristics across his coverage universe. In the strategic category, the analyst sees Okta (OKTA), Palo Alto Networks (PANW), ServiceNow (NOW), RingCentral (RNG), Aspen Technology (AZPN) and DocuSign (DOCU) as potential acquisition targets. In the vertical industry exposure category, Auty lists Guidewire (GWRE), Veeva (VEEV), Medidata (MDSO), Ellie Mae (ELLI) and Q2 Holdings (QTWO) as potential targets. And in the attractive valuation bucket, the analyst sees FireEye (FEYE), Carbon Black (CBLK), Secureworks (SCWX), Akamai (AKAM) and LogMeln (LOGM) as potential candidates to get acquired.

SunTrust analyst Terry Tillman initiated Mimecast with a Buy rating and a price target of $54, saying the company's email security and other services represent a nearly $15B total addressable market that allowed its revenue to grow at a 35% annual rate. The analyst believes that the growth rate of over 30% is "sustainable", adding that the current price point is attractive for entry at a valuation of 5.6-times enterprise value to expected FY19 sales. Tillman adds that he is positive on the company's mid-market and up market share gains opportunity along with the benefits of the increasing Office 365 adoption cycle.
