Boyd Gaming
Stifel analyst Steven… Stifel analyst Steven Wieczynski raised the firm's price target on Boyd Gaming to $60 from $54 based on his 2023 sum-of-the-parts analysis and "confidently reiterates" a Buy rating on the shares, although he has lowered his near-term estimates to account for softer visitation patterns in Q4 and so far in Q1. While he thinks many states will continue to restrict social gathering venues, including casinos, until virus cases start to plateau, Wieczynski believes spending and visitation trends will remain relatively healthy across the majority of Boyd's markets "once the country goes back to normal," he tells investors. The government of Japan… The government of Japan has privately come to the conclusion that the upcoming Tokyo Olympics will need to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the focus will not be on securing the Olympics for the same in the next available year, 2032, The Times' Richard Lloyd Parry reports. "No one wants to be the first to say so but the consensus is that it's too difficult," a source told The Times. "Personally, I don't think it's going to happen." In the U.S., the upcoming Olympic Games was set to be broadcast by NBCUniversal (CMCSA). Companies in the sports betting space include Bally's (BALY), Boyd Gaming (BYD), Caesars (CZR), Churchill Downs (CHDN), DraftKings (DKNG), Flutter Entertainment (PDYPY), Gan Limited (GAN), Las Vegas Sands (LVS), MGM Resorts (MGM), Penn National (PENN), Rush Street Interactive (RSI), Scientific Games (SGMS) William Hill (WIMHY), and Wynn Resorts (WYNN). Nevada's Gaming… Nevada's Gaming Control Board, in a notice to all gaming licensees, stated: "In response to increasing COVID-19 positivity rates, and to manage the spread of the virus, on November 25, 2020, Governor Sisolak announced a statewide 'Pause' and issued Emergency Directive 035. Directive 035 terminated most of the public gathering provisions of Directive 033. With COVID-19 positivity rates continuing to climb after the holiday season, Governor Sisolak extended the applicability of Directive 035 through February 14, 2021. This Industry Notice is intended to remind licensees that, for Nevada Gaming Control Board purposes, each gaming property is still subject to the provisions of Directive 035, Section 8, which limits public gatherings to the lesser of 50 persons or 25% of the listed fire code capacity of the area in which such a gathering will occur... Finally, please note that the Board will strictly enforce Directive 035, including, without limitation on February 07, 2021. All potential violations of Directive 035 occurring in the context of the Super Bowl game or otherwise will be investigated and, where appropriate, may result in disciplinary action."
