Nokia (NOK) and A1 have joined forces to provide a private wireless network for Siemens' (SIEGY) microgrid, which is deployed at its Austrian headquarters in Vienna. Renewable energy sources, storage and microgrids are being adopted by industries worldwide to help enterprises minimize their environmental footprint and reach their sustainability objectives. Nokia is providing the private wireless network, while A1 is providing spectrum along with hosting and management of the newly deployed campus network. The private wireless network is connecting the microgrid assets on the Siemens campus, enabling secure communication between the microgrid controllers and the metering or charging points at guaranteed data rates and with low latency. The Siemens Vienna campus microgrid project includes solar generation, electric vehicle charging, building management and battery storage. Initially, Siemens has implemented 320kW of solar generation and 500kWh battery storage, all to support around 50 EV charging stations.

Nokia, Elisa Oyj and Qualcomm announce achievement of fastest 5G speeds » 05:3311/1811/18/20

Nokia (NOK), Elisa…
Nokia (NOK), Elisa (ELMUF) and Qualcomm (QCOM) announced that they have achieved the world's fastest 5G speeds on a commercial network in Finland by delivering 8 Gbps for the first time serving two 5G mmWave devices connected simultaneously. The fast speed, which was showcased at Elisa's store in Helsinki, Finland, will support a range of new low-latency, high-bandwidth services, such as high-speed video downloads, mission-critical or virtual reality, or VR, and augmented reality, or AR, applications. The service is expected to be implemented in 2021. This was achieved by utilizing Nokia's 5G mmWave technology and Qualcomm Technologies' 5G smartphone form factor test devices over Elisa's commercial 5G network. The high speed enables more high-bandwidth and latency-sensitive enterprise services, such as remotely controlled devices for industrial needs. The solution will also allow subscribers to enjoy VR/AR experiences offered to audiences in massive stadium concerts, downloading 4K video content or triple-A games in a matter of seconds, as well as enabling enhanced capacity fixed wireless access connectivity as a fiber broadband alternative. The base station utilized two Nokia AirScale radios, each using 800 MHz of commercial millimeter wave 5G spectrum at 26 GHz.
Nokia, Deutsche Telekom Group expand cooperation to build 5G-ready IP network » 05:1911/1211/12/20
Nokia (NOK) and Deutsche…
Nokia (NOK) and Deutsche Telekom Group (DTEGY) announced they are expanding their strategic cooperation to build a 5G-ready IP network. Deutsche Telekom has selected Nokia's 7750 Service Router, or SR, platform to expand capacity across its edge/core routing network as it prepares for next-generation broadband and 5G services. Deployment has already started in Greece, where Nokia is replacing and modernizing the operator's existing IP network. Rollout in Hungary is expected in Q4. As part of its network modernization, Deutsche Telekom needed to replace an existing IP edge/core network that was reaching its end of service with a new network that can cope with 5G and ultra broadband access requirements. A key principle to achieve this was the consolidation of network layers through the integration of IP aggregation and edge/BNG functions into one converged layer. Deutsche Telekom selected the Nokia 7750 SR-7s routers as they support the full spectrum of provider edge, gateway and core functions for advanced residential, mobile and enterprise services. As a result, Deutsche Telekom can support 5G interconnectivity and an increasing growth in backbone traffic driven by an increase in mobility applications, video streaming, gaming and other high-capacity demands such as remote working.
