On The Fly: ETF fund flow highlights
For the week fund flows in the top ten creations and redemptions were skewed heavily to the creations side by a factor of over 2.5 to 1, per data from ETF.com. On the creations side the single largest inflow by a wide margin was to the SPDR S&P 500 (SPY) which accounted for over 43% of inflows. S&P 500 funds in total comprise over 64% of creations. The one notable flow to bond funds, which have dominated fund flows for months, was to the iShares iBoxx USD High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYG). There was nearly a direct offset for that inflow on the redemptions side from the iShares iBoxx USD investment Grade Corporate Bond ETF (LQD). The remainder of outflows were smaller and scattered in theme, which is also a change over prior weeks where equity funds saw larger redemptions.
