2020-12-04 15:25:02 | On The Fly: ETF fund flow highlightsFor the week redemptions bested creations by dollar volume in the top twenty ETFs by a factor of over 1.29 to 1 per data from ETF.com. The action in both cases was largely driven by equity index products. On the redemptions side the single largest outflow was from the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) at over 62% of flows. In aggregate with the Invesco S&P 500 High Beta ETF (SPHB) the outflow rate was over 67.5%. Bonds constituted the second largest category of redemptions at over 17%. Those funds included the SPDR Bloomberg Barclays High Yield Bond ETF (JNK), iShares 7-10 Year Treasury Bond ETF (IEF), and the Xtrackers USD High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYLB). In sum S&P 500 and bonds made up over 84% of redemptions. On the creations side three indexes and their products were over 74% of inflows. The S&P 500 ETFs comprised over 45% of inflows with the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY), iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV), Health Care SPDR (XLV), and Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF (RSP). The Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) and iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM) were the second and fourth largest inflows. |
