2021-03-05 14:27:53 | On The Fly: ETF fund flow highlightsFor the week the balance between creations and redemptions was a neutral 1 to 1, per data from ETF.com. On the creations side bonds were the dominant category consisting of inflows to the iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (TLT), iShares iBoxx USD Investment Grade Corporate Bond ETF (LQD), and SPDR Bloomberg Barclays High Yield Bond ETF (JNK). Those three funds were over 29% of inflows. Emerging markets was the second largest theme with inflows to Vanguard FTSE Emerging Markets ETF (VWO) and iShares Core MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (IEMG) which totaled 23.5% of inflows. The iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM) comprise over 12% of inflows. On the redemptions side the skew was heavy toward an exit from megacap tech with the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) at over 36.7% of outflows. Precious metals saw outflows from the SPDR Gold Trust (GLD), iShares Gold Trust (IAU), and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) that summed to over 22.6% of redemptions. Bonds also saw outflows from the iShares Core U.S. Aggregate Bond ETF (AGG), iShares TIPS Bond ETF (TIP), and Schwab Short-Term U.S. Treasury ETF (SCHO) that comprised over 24% of outflows. |
